My partner and I stayed at site #3 for 3 nights with our dog. We wanted something to close to popular swimming holes (Bridgeport, South Yuba River State Park, etc.) and since it was a last minute trip, we didn’t have high expectations for the campsite we chose. We were very pleasantly surprised at what a great find this turned out to be! There are 3 sites: #1 and #2 are right next to one another (great for groups) and close to the porta-potty, #3 is separated a bit, feeling more private, and has the only patch of trees/shade (the best site in my opinion). All the sites have a beautiful view of the river which was lovely to fall asleep listening to and great to explore/swim.
Tips: bring your own shade! (full sun most of the day), bring a camping stove (in case fires aren’t allowed).
Dog people: so many dog-friendly swimming holes in the area! If you go in the summer, be prepared. It is EXTREMELY hot and dry. Some of the surrounding swimming holes have NO shade. We were diligent about bringing water/shade everywhere for our dog but she still ended up with a burned paw pad from exploring the hot rocks.
We had a wonderful time! We stayed at site #2. The land was beautiful, well maintained, and very quiet. The site wasn't as private as we were expecting (you can see people who drive by to the other sites, although this only happened a couple times) but it FAR SURPASSED any public campground out there and you can put your tent in a private spot further back away from the fire pit. The site was large, bathroom was clean, and the owners left us some firewood to get started with. Will definitely be back!
