Ended up getting switched to site A11 after we booked, which I enjoyed a lot (the site host reached out immediately to inform of the needed change). The two sites were close to each other, but A11 was on the water, which I enjoyed more. I hadn't looked closely at the finnon lake rec are website prior to booking - there's a campground map there, and A11 was much better to me! I enjoyed how the campground doesn't have too many campsites, there's a sign up on the bathroom for only 1 person at a time, there was plenty of handsoap and paper products! The lake is qaint but well stocked, which made for fun catch & relase fishing. We drove up Mosquito Rd, which we found out is the sketchier way (winding narrow road, really old one lane wooden bridge that isn't trailer friendly fyi). Will definitely go back!
We loved our stay here! Like others have said, when driving there it feels like you are heading into the middle of nowhere once you hit the dirt road, but Gary's directions are good! The view of Mt Shasta is amazing, and the star gazing at night was lovely as well. Gary was very responsive to my last minute questions and suggested a great trail on the PCT that wasn't strenuous and had spectacular views.
Definitely a great little campsite with amazing stargazing! It was fun to wander the little bit of property around and try to fish a bit. We were excited to sleep without our rainfly on our tent, but quickly learned that our dog was creeped out by noises in the dark woods🤦🏻♀️ There's a little store right up the street, too, which was super convenient! Cody's doing great things with the place. Definitely reccomend if you're in the area!
