We had a great time here! The site was very private, and it was nice to have the deck area to relax. Be aware, there was no picnic table or traditional fire ring which was not a big deal for us but some people may have wanted to know. We just made a fire in the gravel near the lake. Our dogs ran around and had a blast. We will definitely be back!
It's a cool spot! It's easy to get to and looks just like the pictures! I'd recommend tent camping because it is hard to find a spot to hang hammocks except for a few spots on the pier.
Juan was quick to respond. We visited early Nov and the area was nice. Parked and pitched tent by the pier and set up our fire on the gravel. Took our (leashed) dog camping for the first time and she highly enjoyed it!
This was an awesome experience. Our dogs loved running and swimming, there was lots of space and a nice dock. My son caught several good sized bass too and enjoyed swimming. Very primitive sites, no fire rings etc., but we pack everything we need. There were a few cows but they kept their distance.
This was a perfect little weekend spot close to Austin. Enough space to spread out even when a few other campers were around. Lots of space to let the dogs run around. The pier was a great hangout space at sunset and the stars were amazing. We did wake up to a few cows one morning, but they were calm and just kind of hung out and left us alone. The trails are minimal for biking or walking but still enough to have some fun on.
Camped last weekend and it was amazing. Beautiful spot, great sunsets, great fishing, lots of land to explore and even had a Jon boat we could use to get out on the water. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away.
My girlfriend and I wanted to find a getaway from Austin for a quick Labor Day excursion and we couldn't have found a better place. Even though it was labor day weekend, we had the lake and pier to ourselves the entire day and night. The pier was a great addition to the property and a location that helped us out a time or two during some unexpected afternoon and evening downpours. We also brought our dog and she was intrigued by the cattle! We also got to fish in the lake and were able to catch some decent size bass! I hope we're able to get back to this ranch sometime in the future!
Roll up to acres and acres of property, all for your exploring. Make sure and say hello to the cows on your way in, and drive slowly so you can take in all of the beautiful, secluded scenery.
The lake is the central feature of the property, with smaller waterways ribboning off of it. You can camp anywhere, and there is no shortage of options--drive or hike to find you favorite spot. We opted to set up in the big field to the right of the lake, near an already established fire ring.
There is a huge deck by the lake, perfect for summer days or an evening hang out. Other than that, there are no other facilities and the property is very primitive. You could easily take small campers onto the property, although tent camping or car-sleeping is definitely best. The trees aren't big enough for hammocking, so don't plan on that. Make sure to bring what you need to dig catholes for bathroom use (and make sure to do your business at least 200 yards from any water source!). That said, I would also recommend packing in your own water as I had a hard time finding the spigot.
Also, this property is PERFECT for dog owners. I travel a lot with my pups and struggle to find cheap overnights in Texas where they can run free and stretch their legs without me worrying about them bothering someone. This location was perfect; There is so much space for the pups to roam, and they could do so safely off-leash as the property is far from large roads or traffic.
It felt like I was getting the best of Texas primitive ranch camping at this location--my only regret is that I didn't stay longer!
