River Bone Ranch
pros:
Remote ranch location, river access, shade tree.
Cons:
River access from the obvious, shorter route via the road to the campsite was blocked by fencing and a gate. The river could still be accessed but it was a longer walk, and if you need to drive supplies to the river, you can't park there as a non resident.
This is a ranch, so there is cattle. The cattle themselves aren't intrusive, but the campsite was covered in cow patties that took us an hour + to shovel. Based on my youth of growing up next to a farm some had been there for weeks, not days. The area outside the underneath of the tree was too overgrown for pitching tents or hanging out.
This is ranch land that has been subdivided into 5+ acre lots. The neighbors are nice folks, but also obviously not super comfortable that random people are allowed the gate code and camping access. We were friendly to all we met, and had no issues, but I'd prefer to not have to engage in a PR campaign on my camping night .
