132 acres hosted by Jill P.
This property is deep in the valley of Love's Lookout. Its natural rolling hills have been roamed by Native Americans and settlers alike. We have found many shards of Indian pottery, an arrowhead, an old well, as well as an old truck hub grown into a tree. Wildlife abounds as we have seen wild hogs, deer, bobcats and even mountain lions on rare occasion. The fauna is interesting and varied and in various places includes a surprise--flowers from a long gone homestead. You can walk through the ruts of a wagon trail which followed the edge of a spring-fed stream meandering through the valley. The most amazing sight though is at night when you can view the stars with virtually no light pollution as the ridge that forms Love's Lookout wraps around this valley and shuts out light from the two neighboring towns.

Our beautiful, secluded property is located in the valley below Love's Lookout. The ridge of the lookout secludes our valley from light pollution allowing for optimum star gazing. You might find indian artifacts, see wild hogs or other wildlife, streams, hills, awesome views all with only 5 minutes to the quaint charm of Jacksonville or 20 minutes to Tyler. The remains of an old wagontrail mark the ground along a stream and the topography goes from about 350 up to about 675 feet to allow for beautiful views as well as energetic hiking. If you stop at the Lookout on your way in, you'll read that the view is for 35 miles and that the Cherokee were pushed through this valley. The back areas are private enough that you might decide "clothing is optional." Fires are allowed, weather permitting, and in fire pit areas only. We live on the property so water is available to fill containers.
