You can setup your tents under the big trees, or on the banks of McFadden Bayou, or under the stars. Pick a spot near other campers or off in a secluded location... including deep in the woods. The five Swings and the Treehouse are available for all guests, kids and adults, to play on. Swing high and sip your favorite beverage under the biggest three Live Oak trees in Texas. It is really fun flying on a 40 foot tall swing! Kids yell with delight when you give them the big push and they get a thrill they never felt before.
Texas Treehouse Swings Camp has three areas - Tents, the Casita RV, and Bring Your Own RVs. Surfside Beach is only 17 miles south, with two Buc-ees on the way for all your supplies. You have a big stack of free firewood to make a fun campfire in your fire ring or boil that big bag of crawfish.
There is no water or electricity available at the property... it is truly off-the-grid. Along with your tents, bring your own drinking and washing water. We can sell you 5 gallon jugs if you run out. A pair of professional Porta-Potti toilets is nearby. If you have no tent, we can rent you one and we will set it up before you arrive.
There are houses across the county road from the property , but you can't see anything but trees and rainforest jungle. You are in the middle of five acres of forest and grassy fields. The south border is McFadden Bayou where the antebellum farmers transported cotton and sugar cane to market. You can fish there with no license. But it's only a 12 minute drive to the Brazos Mall, Walmart, and all the restaurants. Only 30 minutes to the beaches and deep sea fishing charters. Three champion Live Oak Trees dominate the site of the largest settlement in the original Stephen F. Austin land grant. The largest Live Oak is 22 feet around, has a 120 foot branch span (as wide as two city lots) , and is 840 years old. The tallest is 87 feet to the top leaf. Sadly, one of our five giant trees was felled by tropical storm Imelda in September, 2019. The root ball at the base of the tree is 16 feet tall and you need a 12 foot ladder to get on top of the horizontal trunk. We are designing a tree house to sit on that majestic piece of wood since it is too big to cut with a chainsaw and will last at least 30 more years.
Hike around the 5 acre property... crawl inside a 'hobbit house' hollow pecan tree... eat a tangerine from a wild tangerine tree (fruit December - February)... see the passion fruit vines, blackberries and dewberries (springtime), and monster muscadine grape vines hanging 50 feet high. Take the Cypress Trail down to the shore of historic McFadden Bayou to see a beautiful tall cypress tree with hundreds of knee roots sticking up. Do you dare climb our new Tree-Trail that has wide planks going up into a big fallen pin oak tree that is still alive.

The vibe at Texas Treehouse Swings Camp - Tents
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
I rolled into this location just as the sun was filtering in through the huge (seriously HUGE) trees. It was breathtaking and more beautiful than I imagined. The size of these trees is not overstated--they are huge. Imagine a Texas version of the California Redwoods, but instead of height, these trees have breadth.
For sleeping arrangements, there's a platform with a tent and two cots and chairs inside. The tent is about the size of a small room, and I could basically stand straight up in it (I'm 5'8"). Behind the tent is a hammock for lounging, and adjacent to that is the parking spot for your car. Four wheel drive and high clearance aren't necessary for this location!
Make sure to try out the variety of swings, from a typical single person swing, to a netted swing, to a two-person lounge swing! All of them offer a different experience and perspective.
The 'treehouse' deck is prime real-estate for coffee making and breakfast, and the property is stocked with fire pits and wood for use.
This is a great location for a couple looking for a weekend getaway.
Magic treehouse = magic christmas
The trees at the campsite were simply magical! The swings were a blast for all ages! Bruce was so accommodating and sweet! We loved every Christmas memory we made there! We will definitely be back again!!
Fun swings, beautiful trees
This is a beautiful site under truly enormous oak trees. We were a little surprised to be sharing it with so many other people (another family of four and a party of several adults/dogs), especially with only one toilet in the campervan. However our kids made friends with the other kids and had an absolute blast on the swings and deck.
Spring break camping with kids
We had a great time and Bruce, the owner, was friendly, helpful and a very interesting guy. The site is private but due to it being in the middle of a neighborhood, we heard dogs barking all night and people working in their lawns all day. Not bad but not as peaceful as I had hoped.
We could not have made it without the RV for bathroom facilities and just wished there was a shower option (even if it was outdoors). My girls spent hours playing in the dirt , on the swings and in the treehouse.
I will definitely recommend this site to friends.
Magical trees and awesome swings
This site was great, the trees were magical! We had our four little kids with us and I had lots of activities planned to keep them busy. We didnt really use any of them because the kids spent the whole time enjoying the swings and the trees. The swings were also fun for the grownups. The site was very clean, and felt private. We would definately camp here again and our 7 year old said it was his favorite camping trip ever!
The trees are majestic, the swings are amazing. Our kids had so much fun swinging. Bruce was an awesome host he had firewood waiting for us upon arrival and a large tent with the coolest cots! The camp is located perfectly especially for families since you are still close to town. Also, the beach is not far away. We will definitely be returning!
