Hike around the many game trails in the canyon to explore the different native plants and wildlife. After a big rain, you may find a waterfall or two! One trail will lead you to the rusted remains of some Depression-era cars that were driven off a cliff as entertainment! Wildlife includes some resident deer, opossums, raccoons, badgers, bobcats, hawks, and the occasional bald eagle.

4WD required to access sites. No RV's, campers, or trailers.

The site was just what we expected. Lindsay was very responsive and the directions were great. We have a suburu outback and didn't have any trouble at all getting to the site. A pretty place to camp near Amarillo!

Just as expected - the land was great. It didn't feel like we were in between two neighborhoods (but we did hear a wedding dance party happening in the distance one night). Felt secluded. Felt safe because of the locked fence/gate around the land. AWD is recommended, though we did see a small Honda Civic make the drive down and up. It's about a 15-20 minute drive to Palo Duro State Park. We highly recommend the jacuzzi.

The view and the air were pleasant.

It turns out 4WD is not strictly necessary to get into and out of the canyon - I didn't risk it with my minivan, but I saw several others cars, including pickup trucks that probably had rear 2WD do fine. Nobody had any trouble that I could see.

Shade is not very available. We were at Site #4, which had good shade from one tree in the evening. Site #2 was pretty attractive from what I could see just walking around.

Be careful about going off the trails - I saw a snake that was probably a Western Diamondback, about 3 ft long.

Beautiful Canyons...there are houses that can be seen from campsite..however they are not close enough to be any issue.
