Perfect get away.
Trevor and his family were fantastic. The site is private, huge and well maintained. Trevor was a great host, he was timely, made sure everything was taken care of and provided water and a bathroom.
Great, great place and will stay there again. Highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic time! Trevor and Kimber were super friendly and communicative hosts. We appreciated that they provided firewood and a table with a sink setup with a hose for water. The campsite was tucked back into the woods, but still had some good views of the stars and a full moon. They are looking to mulch paths in the near future that will make it easier to get back to the campsite.
Rocky Top Retreat is a beautiful site in a perfect location. It is located close enough to San Marcos for easy access to restaurants but far enough where you don’t feel like you’re near a city. The site is well maintained and beautiful. Trevor is a fantastic host. I definitely recommend staying here!
Rocky but in a good way
This is a great place off the beaten path. Nice Live Oak and Cedar trees for plenty of shade cover or a hamic. Close to San Marcos for river fun in the day and camp fire at night. Hosted were warming and very welcoming. I would recommend this site to who ever enjoys real camping and real fun.
Top retreat with rocks
Guys, we did a crazy thing and decided to camp in the middle of July in Texas. And yet, I felt like I was on some bizarre planet where the weather was beautiful and not unbearably hot! Trevor communicated well and the site was exactly as described. It felt incredibly private. Yet, we were 20-30 minutes from all the places we wanted to go. There’s a sink and that made all the difference for washing dishes, brushing teeth, washing your face, etc. They provided a ton of firewood so we made a fire every night and morning. The campsite itself is shady, but there is an opening to see the stars at night. My only concern is the actual trail going to the campsite. Thankfully we own a SUV and didn’t have any trouble, but it might be difficult if you’re in a small car. Would recommend to friends!
