A great place, beautiful spots to camp. Was just too rugged for myself. Wasn't able to stay because of the amount of poison ivy. I was hoping to do some hiking with my dogs but couldn't take the risk.
BUT the host was so helpful and drove me around to try to find a spot that i felt comfortable in.
There is a pool. I thought it had a really cool hippie compound kind of vibe. If poison ivy is not an issue for you, check this place out.

We had a great time at River Haven over the weekend. The land is absolutely beautiful, a perfect getaway. Our campsite was overlooking the Colorado River and tucked beneath luscious green trees that kept us shaded from the brutal Texas heat. Having direct river access and a short walk to the pool made our stay perfect!!! We spent most of our days lounging at the pool and using the awesome communal kitchen, which came equipped with everything we needed all weekend. The land owners and hosts were all super kind and helpful, and really took extra care of our group. All the little things! Need to get away and relax? Definitely check out Forest River Haven!!

First of all this place is a forest sanctuary. There were so many places to pitch a tent that could be inclusive or very secluded from the community area. There are lots of friendly people that live on the property willing to come say hi and get to know you. We had 3 dogs that we were able to let raom freely with ease. The pool was like a foreign oasis and it is even 15ft deep! The community kitchen is super clean and fully stocked with things to use. Also, a full size bbq pit smoker for all your bbqing needs. We also floated the river with the canoes on the property. Lastly, you MUST take a nature walk with Meme while there. She is very very knowledgeable about edible plants and the health benefits of them. She also has a lot of spiritual insight so make sure to pick her brain while you got her. I needed a break from life to find myself and this was the perfect place to go. I had such a wonderful weekend thanks to the property, the people, and the amenities.

This place was amazing! Right next to the river and lots of space. We were the only ones out there so the host brought done the portapotty done for us that was freshly serviced. The main area has lots of spots that are cleared out but farther away from the boat ramp the less the spot were maintained which is understandable because of everything going on. There was a fire pit with wood already collected and a sitting area. Plus, they have canoes that you can use with life jackets. Over all I was pretty impressed.

First of all, this place is absolutely gorgeous.
Second, the main camping area is very primitive - no tables, fire pits, etc. Showers, kitchen, et al are not directly located in the camping area. They are accessible, it's just a trip away.
Third, Albert, the site manager (and Jack-of-All-Trades) was absolutely fantastic and will help you out with whatever you need. When we first arrived he showed us the different campsites to choose from. It had rained pretty heavily so many of the campsites were not accessible by most cars and he offered to haul our stuff in his ATV if we desired a campsite further in. Once we chose a place, he also relocated a porto-o-pot closer to us. He even offered to make a bonfire for us from the brush he had just cleared.
He also showed us the many access points to the river - which was the perfect temperature for a relaxing float from one rocky beach end, to the boat dock at the other.
Come prepared with everything you need and you will have a great time - we certainly did!

Glad you enjoyed your stay, the kitchen and pool are on property, a short walk. not really a trip. the shower is by the pool and the bathroom also. there are port a potties by the river for the campers. We have several tables and chairs and fire pits, just ask we will accommodate your needs as long as they are communicated. Thanks so much, hope to see you again.

Albert and MeMe are amazing. Everything was above my expectations at River Forest Haven. I would recommend to everyone. Close to water for great fly fishing and kayak fishing. Clean land, no trash on sites. Very quiet.

Very cool place. Found this place because all of the state parks were booked, and this ended up being way better. Very secluded and right on the river. Albert is very friendly and helpful.

For just starting out. It's a perfect experience. My family fully enjoyed our time here. And Albert is Nothing but Wonderfull. He never once sipped a beat when anyone need anything extra like firewood or help. And even continued maintaining the grounds on his free time.
I am 100% coming back and can't wait to go back. It was a perfect camping trip.
