The vibe at Austin Oasis
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We drove out to Polly P’s land coming from the Hill Country of Texas. Her property is in a rural setting but very close to the interstate south west of downtown Austin by about 20 minutes.
Set on 3.5 flat acres you are welcomed onto her property by a thick stand of bamboo at the road. Once you drive past this bright green living wall you feel as if you have left the world outside and entered a different place. Her yard is expansive, flat, and perfect for many campers to find their own nook and create a little privacy. Coming soon, near the stand of bamboo, will be an outdoor shower and composting toilet. On the backside of her house is a pool surrounded by oak trees that is available to use, as well. We didn’t take a dip because we neglected to bring our swimsuits, but her pool is AWESOME!
Polly was there to greet us with a generous smile and open arms. She lives on this property with her daughter and several house mates. Her kitchen and bathroom are open for Hipcampers to use and we took her up on a hot shower and the use of her kitchen to clean our dishes. The weather outside was a perfect 60 degrees so we set up our camp kitchen outside to make some dinner. She has an extremely friendly cat that will welcome you and even sleep with you if you want!
We had to leave early in the morning, but we were woken up to the pleasant sound of rain on the roof and a train passing by. Polly P’s land was a friendly, safe space to spend the night and also meet new friends.
