I have nothing but great feels for this patch of nature. I stayed a week. I enjoyed walks, peace and quiet and literal tranquillity along with campfires and cooking on the open pit. The best part was when the neighborhoods close by calmed down and it was nothing but stars, crickets, frogs and critters. I had the best time, and my cats enjoyed watching nature through the windows long after I fell asleep The Lost Woods are very primitive and in town, but I recommend 100 percent. Tent, camper or RV (31ft like me) go visit. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Perfect campsite for a solo camper!! Communication with James felt comfortable and responded in a timely manner. I stayed at campsite 6. Easy to find with James directions. Campsite felt comfortable and perfectly nestled in the trees.

Site 1 - Lost Woods Campground
Camping at Lost Woods Site #1 was a perfect last minute camping getaway. We were able to park 2-3 cars, have plenty of room for our tent, and cook and enjoy “caveman” tv (sitting around a fire, with the fire pit on site. The trails were an added bonus to enjoy. James was responsive and communicated immediately answering any of our questions. We have recommended Lost Woods to other friends.

I sleep in my truck topper so backing into the site was nice and easy. It's close to the nicer side of San Antonio but secluded at the same time. You can hear traffic during the day but it's dead silent at night. It's also far enough away that you can still see the stars. Plus, there's some friendly farm creatures in a pen near the site that are cute to check out! The trees are dense enough you can't see any other sites from your own too.

I love camping here, it is super secluded and always a peaceful blast and cozy experience. The host is one of my favorite hosts they are always making sure that we are taken care of. This whole property is beautiful!!! Can’t wait to go back again

My experience communicating with James was awesome — he’s very informative, thorough, and helpful. Everything about the stay felt easy and welcoming.
The amenities were great! I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and well-kept the port-a-potty was — it smelled fresh every time I used it. My favorite part was definitely the fire pit; it was absolutely wonderful. The campsite (spot #3) is big, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. There were even two chairs and a grill at my site, it was such a thoughtful touch.
The layout of the land is great; the fire pit is set further back, so you get privacy even though the other lots are visible when you first drive in. Everything was easy to find, and the whole place just has a calm, beautiful energy.
I car camped here and would definitely recommend bringing mosquito spray or a net for your vehicle — once that’s handled, it’s smooth sailing. This place is perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to unwind and enjoy nature.

I spent the night there in my class b. It’s behind a locked gate. I think I might have been the only one there it was very quiet and secluded. The site was level and had what looked like a new picknick table and a custome metal fire pit. I would definitely stay again.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! My designated area was perfect for me and my flatbed F250. I backed right up to my spot and set up with NO ISSUUES. My spot was clean, had a fireplace that was built out of stones from the natural landscape around the area and I cooked my food off it Very peacefull, no hassles and if i had any questions, which i did, I text James and within minutes i had an answer. Great place to camp no matter if you're pitching a tent, youre a vanlifer or if youre like me and you camp off your flatbed truck!! If you like to be secluded with No one around to bother you this place is for you. I had originally made a reservation for 2 days but at the end of the trip i decided to stay another night. Thanks, James, for an AWESOME experience!

Exactly as advertised! Inside San Antonio, close by, but still feels secluded. Nice trees and nature. Hosts are super kind and very communicative! Only downside is you can still hear the traffic.

Hidden gem on the edge of the city. James has managed to keep the country feel as the area has grown up around it. Great place to camp if you need a quick get away. James was responsive and helpful. We were able to camp out of our car and stay secluded from other campsites.

I enjoyed being “out in the woods” but literally 5 minutes away from a Starbucks. No power and I kinda liked that but definitely know before you go. There is nothing there but 1 porta potty and usually a fire pit at your site. I didn’t make time to explore much. You can hear the highway but from about midnight to 4am it’s regular wood sounds.

There was space for my pop-up camper (so I wasn't really roughing it), but if you want to try dry camping (no elect & no water) then this would be a great place to practice primitive camping. It is a nice island in the middle of suburbs.

Great spot for a weekend getaway. Quiet and clean. Only thing is that there's only 1 porta potty by the entrance, maybe put one by lot 5. Other than that I loved it

Nightmare in the Lost Woods

Site 3 - Lost Woods Campground
First of all, I was shocked when I saw the condition of the grounds, especially when the cost of the site was $50 a night. When I arrived, there was a combination padlock on the gate. When I called the host, he gave me what I thought was a gate code, not a padlock. I was unable to open the lock initially, and when I called the host there was no answer. He did call me back and walked me through it, so I was able to get in. I’m really wondering why they charge so much, considering the only amenity is a port-a-potty, two beat up chairs and an old barbecue at the site. I was in campsite 3, and I listened to traffic from Road 1604 the whole night. I think that I was the only person camping on the property, as I never saw a living soul, not even the host. It was the worst camping experience I have ever had. I stayed at the Grand Canyon a week prior to this, and paid $18 for my site, with all the amenities, wild life, and a beautiful setting. I would not refer Lost Woods to anyone!!!

We had such a great time at Site 4! This was actually the second time camping in that spot, about a year and a half ago my son and I stayed there, I loved it so much I reserved it again. The campgrounds are dense and laid out so well, we can setup and walk the dog around for a good distance, and the area is perfect for plenty of tents and gear. I know a lot of people leave reviews and make comments about road noise but honestly you adjust to it, and the sounds of nature are the real focus anyway. Also the port a potty is quite possibly the cleanest one I have ever seen, ha. Air fresheners and all, just watch out for wasp nests, I got a wake up call this morning from one just above the door, but hey they campout too 🤣 Can't wait to come back and try another site , thanks again James!

Site 13 - Lost Woods Campground
James was very passive aggressive and unprofessional. The campgrounds were nice but a bit dirty with litter scattered around the trails and tons of old tires half-buried everywhere. The traffic from the street nearby is surprisingly loud, even deep in the campgrounds.
My biggest problem was that I lost the first day of my reservation. James refused to give me directions to the site until I arrived, which was a problem because I don't carry a phone. His reasoning was that the directions were too complicated to explain unless I was there. The directions were, "drive straight, left turn, park by maintenance at the end of the street. then walk left along the riverbed." If you can make two left turns and know how to park a car, you could probably find site 13. It's seriously not that complicated. It was very frustrating losing a full day (and 60 dollars) just because the host was determined to be as sarcastic, unhelpful, and unprofessional as possible.
Also, site 13 is very small. The listing says maximum 20 people, so I expected it to be big. It is about the same size as the other sites, functionally a bit smaller due to the uneven terrain being unsuitable for tents. I suppose the maximum number at site 13 includes the other undeveloped clearings along the riverbed trail. There was human excrement and trash in the campsite when I arrived.
The portapotty was clean, and we had a very good time camping despite the problems.
