Great location between the two Big Bend parks! Convenient for us as we needed somewhere to stay before making the final push to the parks. Maybe many people don't know about this spot but we had the entire campground to ourselves during Big Bend busy season. We actually ended up coming back a few days later after camping at the state park, when we couldn't secure a spot in the national park for a night and all the overflow areas were packed. Each individual site is pretty roomy, there's a port-o-potty between sites 4 and 5, and the convenience store is a short distance away. Cool spot!

We had the entire campground to ourselves the two nights we stayed — stunning sunrises and sunsets! There is a porta potty, but it was kind of icky so we opted to go outdoors and just clean up after ourselves. Each site is equipped with a small table and a big metal trash can. It’s located a half hour drive to the National Park entrance. Nearby country store is stocked with a lot of nice food and drinks, as well as a microwave. And there’s WiFi, which was great because I had no service in the Big Bend area.
Awesome! Wonderful rugged west Texas experience! Easy access to a Big Bend National Park. The pavilion and little burro store are so sweet! Pam and the staff was very hospitable and the individual sites are large and clean! What a great place.

Thanks for staying with us!
It was amazing! Camp host Pam was so wonderful- beautiful, vast open spaces under the bright West Texas sky! Great access to Big Bend National Park! Would definitely stay again!!

THANKS AMBER !! WE HOPE TO SEE YU ALL AGAIN
Oh my gosh, we loved Jackass Flats. Pam, the campground host is awesome. She’s a big hearted cowgirl who went out of her way to make us happy. We used the community pavilion she offers to locals as well as campers. There we met lots of locals who were there to take advantage of the free internet. The campground is primitive and in the desert. But you are surrounded by mountains and friendly folks- you can’t help but fall in love with the place.
Just an amazing place, sucluded and private, very well maintained and the hosts were very hospitable! The front store iscawesome and had everything we needed! And we felt completely secure leaving our pop ups unattended for a day while we explored Terlingua and big bend state park!
Awesome campground secluded from everyone! Beautiful stars and desert foliage with surrounding mountains. Adorable country store! Pam was so nice.
