The pond is great to swim in, when full (a seasonal thing depending on how much rain we have had) and there are fantastic views, and lots of wildlife . And the star gazing is unmatched! There is a picnic table, grill and porch swing down by the pond where you camp. There is so much to do around Dripping Springs, including Perdenales State Park, great swimming, breweries, wineries and distilleries, as well as great shopping. You will have all the privacy and solitude you could want as well while camping. While firewood is not provided per se, it essentially is, as there is plenty around to be picked up with minimal effort.

This place was great. Very quiet and peaceful. Our host was very nice, but I did want to clarify how the amenities are listed on the Hipcamp site -- there is no picnic table; the water available is from a hose at the owner's house (up the hill from camp); the firewood that is available is just whatever you can find, so bring an ax or hatchet; and there is no charcoal grill. We had a great time, just thought everyone else should know to come prepared by bringing everything you think you might need.
Beautiful property, perfect for a quick little outing from Austin. The dogs loved running around and playing in the pond and chasing the deer - I didn't love walking around looking for them in the dark tho :). The campsite was private and secluded and yet had a nice table, grill and fire circle.
All in all, perfect.
The site was perfect and the host, Jack, was very accommodating. Quick trip from downtown Austin and easy to find!
This was an awesome place! Jack was very helpful and the land was beautiful. Very easy to find. We camped by the pond it was perfect. If you go in the summer I would bring some sort of shade of with you.

This camp is a perfectly quiet retreat tucked into Texas Hill Country, a short 30 or so minute drive from Austin. After a drive down a steep hill you'll find your camp oasis. You'll find plenty of space to pitch a few tents amongst the Texan landscape. There are plenty of trees to find shade under during hot afternoons and a fire pit to sit around.
We met up with our friends from Leander, roasted marshmallows over the fire, drank a few brewskis and gazed up at the stars. The only downside was that the swimming pond was bone dry, but you can't really control rainfall in Texas. Despite that, our kids explored the dry pond, jumping from the exposed boulders more than a few times.
Back in town make sure to check out the food truck lot with shaved ice, bbq and damn good wings just to the west on 290.

Beautiful property, very private! Nice views! you're surrounded by cedar and oaks. I went in september and pond was halfway full, very primitive camping which is great! Definitely going back. Bring shade in summer
Hill Country Heaven was amazing! Our first experience with Hipcamp and Jack was an awesome host. Beautiful, serene country with a very private experience. Would definitely visit again!
Great spot for a camp fire and star gazing. Jack was very communicative and respectful of privacy.

Hey Jamie. I am actually just reading your review. My apologies for any misleading aspects to the listing, as it relates to firewood, grill and picnic table. I should have included in the listing text that firewood is plentiful, but must be gathered. To be honest, I should have done a better job proofing the listing to see that it reflected that firewood would be provided. Same with the grill. I did not realize that had been "checked". Being a "newbie" when I posted our land, I did not know my way around the site very well, and must have done that inadvertently. As to the picnic table, I did check that, as it was always my intention to get one, but then got busy and never followed through, and simply forgot to amend the listing to remove it. So my bad all the way around. That said, I am getting a charcoal grill for down by the pond this week, and plan on getting the picnic table here soon as well. My apologies, but hope you had a good time anyway.
