Inspiring creek refuge
We loved: Wandering thru the bamboo forest, Wading and yoga~ing in the gorgeous private creek, Seeing lots of birds and stars(!!)(wish we had brought our binoculars and telescope), Hearing the coyote/treefrog/owl chorus at night, the roosters celebrating the morning, Using the solar-lit bathhouse. Very cool. Happy Acres shows such respectful loving stewardship of land. Thank you Virginia and Steve for sharing your magical meadow with us. Y'all are wonderfully gracious hosts. We're already planning our next visit!
Happy campers at happy acres
Great, private camping site. Sweet hosts visit regularly to check in, and property is kept up very nicely. We set up our tent on nicely mowed grass, enjoyed the short trails by the creek, and had fun playing badminton behind the bamboo. This site is in a neighborhood, so you may hear them, but you can't see anyone from the site.
We were delighted by the spring-fed, lively creek and the peace and quiet of the site. This was perfect for our 3 young kids (nice bathroom and kept grass) - we walked up and down the creek, swam by the spring, and played hide and seek in the bamboo forest. The hosts are super - we will be back!
An idylic retreat
At this single site campground, we enjoyed meditative trails through a bamboo forest, a lively limestone bottom, spring fed creek, and a serene camping area with a creekside picnic table and firepit. A luxurious added bonus was the super cool bathhouse, complete with flush toilet and freshwater shower.
Thanks to the friendly hosts, the cleanliness of the site, and the total immersion in nature, including windsong and birdsong, we're already planning our next visit!
Happy Acres was the perfect getaway. Steve and Virginia were lovely hosts. The ground were impeccable and I don’t know how you can beat great outdoor feel PLUS a flushing toilet and shower(wim hof fans will be very pleased). This was a great space for reading, meditating, yoga, and only 20 min to Balcones Wildlife Refuge for a hike. I had the perfect spot to hang my hammock over the creek and enjoy all the sounds and sights nature had to offer before making dinner at the fire pit.
Overall you can tell a lot of love time and care goes into the space that these wonderful hosts provide. Serenity. Oasis. Escape.
We booked for two nights with Steve and Virginia at Happy Acres, unfortunately, due to work we had to come home a day early. The site was perfect for our kids' forst time camping. They have a shower, toilet, and sink. There was a picnic table and a fire ring. The kids spent hours playing in the creek. There was no cell service and it made the retreat even more peaceful. We had a fantastic experience and can't wait to return.
Cute little slice of heaven!
Happy Acres and the host were awesome! The only thing I’d let future campers about, their neighbors do have a rooster, so if you’re an early riser like myself it’s an awesome natural alarm clock, but if you want to sleep in that may be an issue. Their site is tucked away in the Texas Hill-country and were very welcoming. This is a great place to stay few nights, and the creek access is amazing! There’s also a really good spot to hang a hammock as well. I’ll definitely be coming back when I come through Austin!
A breath of fresh air
This wasn't my first stay at Happy Acres, and when I felt the need to take a deep breath and get a good dose of nature's healing, I knew just where to go. This beautiful, private campsite was just the idyllic retreat I was looking for. I parked my van, set out my camp chair, hung my hammock by the creek and settled in for a nice stretch of rest and birdsong. The creek was clean and inviting, and when my feet hit the water, I was renewed.
I would definitely stay here again!
Steve and Virginia were excellent hosts, very kind and gave me a great tour of their self designed campground. They had a restroom outside in a hand built, very private, hut with a sink, shower, and flushable toilet. With access to a creek right next to the site and plenty of private space, my stay with them was a top notch experience!
