Enjoy riding gorgeous pure-blood horses right up to and at your Wildlife Preserve campsite - Pitch your tent wherever you want - or stay in one of our cabins in the woods - Once settled in, come down and Mickey, our retired Special Forces horseback riding manager and/or Vicky, ex-olympic equestrian champion will "hook you up" with whatever horseback riding fun you want (we plan it with you in advance) these customized "horsing around" experiences are for all levels and "tastes" - from "on the ground" feeding and "bonding," to amazing photo ops (photographer on-site), to private and/or guided trail rides, lessons, or "yours for the day" (or weekend?). Full tack room with parade saddles, children's saddles, etc. on site, as well as
Even baby campers can enjoy the horses with our tandem rides, mini-horses and adorable ponies.
Never been around them/scared of horses? We specialize in "newbies" - we even have a staircase for easy mounting, so being stiff or out of shape is no problem :-)
Got your own horses? Perfect! bring them and they can camp with you! We can provide private field or pasture boarding, training, feed, whatever you need!
Once you reserve your campsite, just call or text us to book your adventure!
By the way... We are NOT a traditional trailer park - and will never be!
We understand some people think being in nature is to back up, hook up & "camp" in a row of look-alike camp-sites with other people on either side of you, but that is not what we offer.
Instead we preserve your opportunity to have a new experience living in the woods (or the fields if you prefer) of a REAL, active, working wildlife preserve, exotic animal rescue/sanctuary & horse ranch;
We keep it real by only giving a couple of RVs a chance to come at the same time - Likewise for tent campers - just a few. Cabins? Only 9 in over 2 acres! .
That preserves the rest of the nearly 30-acres space for nature and for building forever-homes for all our cute (tame & friendly) animal rescues – which you will be able to enjoy – right from your “camp-site” at your leisure…
And this is why you - or anyone else would really want to come visit, right? :-)
Be assured that we very much appreciate the few guests we do have each week, and try to do what we can to ensure you have a very nice time - And you can see from all our reviews which average 5-stars, that we do provide a worthwhile experience.
As far as trees... yep, we do have tons of beautiful 100-year old oaks, cedars, etc. & some have lower branches which don’t allow for parking everywhere…
But you do get to pick any spot you want to camp; there are some lovely areas with great views where you can sty n a tent, cabin with all the comforts, and a couple of places where even the biggest RVs can set up… And we can help you get set up with electric and water which are available in several places throughout the property.
Of course, with tents you can set up anywhere, so you have many more options, as well as with pop-up trailers as they aren’t very tall...
Please feel free to ask all questions you wish – we’re here for you 24/7. When you book they also let you see our website which is quite nice and shows all the activities we offer, Whatever your choice of Hipcamping, if you are looking for a lovely and safe getaway with accommodating hosts and friendly little animals roaming around, you will enjoy your stay with us :-)

Vicky & Micky were such great hosts! We camped out on their property, which felt like our own private sanctuary. As two young females, we felt safe the whole time and enjoyed playing with the goats, donkeys, dogs, pig, and the horses. We went horseback riding with Micky and you could tell he had such a beautiful relationship with the animals. He was a great tour guide and teacher. When going to pay, Vicky was so warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who needs some time to rejuvenate from a busy schedule.
What a weekend!! The ranch, the cabin, all the animals, the horseback riding...it was perfect, just what my boyfriend and I were hoping for to escape Austin for just a couple days, looking forward to coming back!
The ranch is more suited for a cabin stay, but there are a couple of nice areas to pitch a tent. It’s more primitive tent camping than we are used to, but we really enjoyed ourselves. The hosts are wonderful.
We booked our stay so we could camp in our new JAYCO bunkhouse for the first time, while all public parks are closed for Covid 19. Prior to booking, I asked if the sites would accommodate a 43’ long, 13.5’ tall RV and if the sites had any type of base (ie gravel, pavement, etc), in addition to the water and electric hookups. They confirmed, so we set off on our 2 hour drive to Boerne. GPS directed us straight to the address, but we did not know there was a gate, or that the gate was just past construction that forced the road down to a single lane. When your vehicle measures 50’ (truck plus RV) these details are a must. Another person happened to be at the gate and allowed us access, so we drove onto the beautiful property and up to the top of the hill where Micky met us and guided us to the campsite. The gorgeous oak trees made it impossible to park our RV at the campsite, but we were able to set up camp on an open piece of property. They were able to run temporary electrical service to our location and we had 100+ feet of hose for water, so once the electrical line was established, we were set.
Despite our stress upon arrival, Vicky and Micky, were very accommodating and friendly. The farm is absolutely stunning. Our family thoroughly enjoyed walking the property, petting the goats, Lucy the donkey, the horses and seeing the birds and chickens.
All in all, my husband and I were glad we didn’t understand the challenges this camp set up would bring, because we would not have made the trip. The time away with our teen/tween daughters was well worth it.
The property is well suited for tent/cabin camping. Vicky and Mickey are hard at work building a bird sanctuary and improving the property. If you are bringing a RV, just ask for photos of the site, to better understand what you need to bring along.
We had a great time but
We had a great time! However, we were under the impression we would have more privacy but we we were parked right next to another giant RV. We were lucky to have good neighbors but the ranch was not prepared and we didn’t have AC until 10 pm our first night. We weren’t really upset but it was hot so we were ready for some AC! Our poor neighbors didn’t have electricity most of the weekend! We felt terrible for them!
Mickey and Vicky were so welcoming and friendly. They admitted they were not ready for the RV’s and had not had as many visitors At one time before. They were fixing the electric almost the whole weekend so we had people driving through our campsite- that was annoying but we did have the best view when people weren’t driving through. My kids loved watching the goats, donkeys, and horses walking the grounds. My son was bit by a horse So don’t pet them without Mickey. The horse did approach us tho. The next day, Mickey took us on a fantastic ride through the property and got all my kids comfortable with riding and they had a blast.
We didn’t see any water holes on the property Even tho the listing said swimming available but we did drive about 10 minutes to a Guadalupe river park-ish place. It was perfect for wading and catching minnows which my kids love to do!
We really enjoyed the hosts hospitality and we
did have a great time. I think other less laid back people would have been annoyed but we were trying to roll with it and enjoyed being out of the house on this beautiful land. I’d give the ranch another try but next time I’ll make sure no one will be parked near us and the electric is ready. :)
Animal lover's delight!
When we arrived at the ranch with our little 16' Airstream Bambi Sport, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts Vicky and Mickey. They led us down their driveway, up a small hill, and past two little cabins to a wooded spot with a sweeping view of the horse pasture and Hill Country. After they helped us get hooked up to 30-amp electric power and water, they invited us to make ourselves at home, to explore our surroundings, to enjoy all the animals, and to let them know if we had any needs. We had signed up for a close encounter with the exotic birds that are part of their animal rescue mission, and Mickey made sure to schedule it at a time that suited us best. The ranch is a working animal sanctuary, not an RV park, and this appealed to us in a big way. We loved the impromptu visits by goats, chickens, a donkey, and a visiting specialist's rescued hyacinth cockatiels! We can't wait to visit again later this year!
Not bad vs state parks
It is a quaint property and interesting in a lot of ways. I do think it works better if you pre-arrange in advance to have a tour of their wildlife and horseback riding. We decided to see what the wildlife and horses were like before signing up. As a result the available time slots were very late or super early in the morning. Which left us with a lot of time on our hands with nothing to do during the day. I also think the rates for the wildlife and horseback riding was a bit pricy compared to going to the zoo where you can see much more wildlife for a much cheaper rate for a lot longer time. The place does have some spots that feel a bit remote which is what I was looking for in camping. But you cant have a camp fire near you (due to fire marshal reasons) and there are only 2 spots on the grounds where camp fires are allowed. But those 2 spots are rather nice. The restroom for campers is one port-a-potty and for campers there are no showers unless upgrading to cabin use. I do think this place has a LOT of promise. But the one thing that really keeps me from going back is the look of a lot of Do It Yourself projects that were left unfinished and several areas that are left in disrepair or messy. If a pro were to come in and clean up the place and finish the projects it would be a lot better.
