Shane and Alison moved to this property 8 years ago from New York City.  They had a large 24 foot tent and all of their belongings.  They lived in the tent while they carved out a spot on the densely forested property.  Over time, they began to develop the property and have built every structure on it by hand using as many salvage materials as possible.  Each year they invite artists to come and create at the space, and teach the local community about visual art, farming, animal husbandry, and farm handicrafts.

Quick Trip to Habitable Spaces
Habitable Spaces is a great spot to get out of town (ATX or SA) for a night. We did not have the opportunity to meet Shane or Alison but love what they've built. Quirky little sustainable farm...Jealous all their little farm friends. They have both community and private sites on the property. The San Marcos river is a quick 10 minute drive and there are fishing & swimming areas available.

A deluxe primitive camp site
Enjoyed hike/bike trails, kick ball field/base ball field, primitive camp site with fire pit, eating/game table and his & hers out house. Secure and isolated during these non socializing times. Thanks for sharing your place with us. We had a fun time at your site.

The hosts were very kind and helpful. The property was fun to explore on our OneWheels. Definitely a place to go back to.

Priced high for overall experience
The campsite was adequate--primitive--but that was to be expected; however, the price is high for what you get. Also, the photos on Hipcamp suggest a more interactive experience both with the host and with the animals on this farm. This was not our experience. We were camping with a child and hopeful that he could enjoy the animals more, but they were not accessible to us. Also, there is a photo of a horse on the site, which suggested horse riding opportunities, yet there were no horses there.

Enjoyed our 2 night visit
Enjoyed our 2 night visit. Very accommodating and friendly hosts. We had our choice of campsites and were very happy where we ended up. Yes, we would recommend Habitable Spaces.

A place to stay near Seguin
Nice property but needs upkeep. Place for a camper was basically nonexistent due to height limitations. They could make things really nice (and profitable) if they did a little clearing, cleanup, and hospitality. I never met anyone except a couple volunteers. It would have been nice to have had a quick tour and a discussion of their purpose.
