Gypsy Moon Hideaway Primitive Camp
Always Wonderful
Never fails to be a good trip at Gypsy Moon Hideaway. This is my go to spot and will be for as long as the wonderful host Amy allows everyone to continue to use her beautiful land for camping. So many improvements every year. She’s always looking to improve and listens to her campers always. Wonderful place, wonderful host, wonderful time. That easy!

Gypsy Moon Hideaway Primitive Camp
Beautiful spot on the river, amenities are rustic without being primitive, and we were greeted not only by Amy, but a flock of friendly chickens, dogs, and cats. Can’t wait to come back!

Gypsy Moon Hideaway Primitive Camp
A group of friends and I got two of the tent sites at Gypsy Moon and loved it! The sites were well maintained and marked. There was plenty of access to water to fill your camp cans and clean restrooms with a cool shower area. The bait shop is really cool, small, but with all the things you need to camp: bottled water and drinks, ice, farm fresh eggs and firewood to name a few. Amy is super accommodating and friendly and there seems to be a whole community of laid back down home people in the area that are around to make you feel welcome. The beach area is really nice with a comfy pavilion overlooking the river. We highly recommend Gypsy Moon for your next weekend getaway.

Gypsy Moon Hideaway Primitive Camp
A pleasant stay and a great hostess
Gypsy Moon Hideaway is a nice little retreat, tucked away at the end of a road right by the river. The tent camping site I was on was quite nice, as it had just been freshly created so my tent was on a soft bed of fresh cut grass. I arrived very late in the evening around 8:30, but Amy was happy to greet me, get a fire pit for me, and show me to my spot. She even offered to loan me her flashlight if I didn't have one. The next day, she ensured a picnic bench was brought out to my spot (remember, it had literally JUST been created, so she hadn't had a chance to set it up yet, knowing that I took it anyways and she was on top of things making sure to get me outfitted) She is a lovely lady who enjoys hanging out with her campers at the bait and supply store, and is super sweet. She has chickens and cats and all manner of critters, and deer frequently roam through as well. The spots are generously spaced apart, with plenty of privacy. Far, far better than any state park, for sure. The bait and supply shop has everything you need, is priced very fairly, and runs on an honor system which I love - you don't see that much anymore. Thanks for a relaxing stay, Amy, and I'll see you next time I'm in your neck of the woods!

Vanlifers with our Doggo
Got there pretty late and was still able to check in! Great amenities and lovely area. Was only sad we couldn't stay longer due to having to travel the next day. The property had chickens and I was very pleased it was dog friendly. Amy was very sweet and helpful. Would definitely love to come back.

Was a great little spot! Amy is a great host! GPS took me to a whole different place and she came and guided me to camp and already had a fire going for me since I got in late! Great experience!
