Deer Creek Lakeside

1 acre lot located at the end of an unpaved road and adjacent to a lake. Plenty of flat space to pitch a tent. You will need 4 wheel drive or a vehicle with good clearance to access the lot. It's located at the bottom of a gravel road that has become rutted from rainwater runoff. I've taken the kids out here multiple times to camp, boat, shoot cans with bb guns, and explore.

The vibe at Deer Creek Lakeside
I had a beautiful overnight stay at this campsite. It's on a 1 acre piece of land in a neighborhood, so it felt safe (while still feeling remote). Camp is a 200m walk away from a lake. Lots of activities to fill your stay: wildlife watching, walking trails, boating, and fishing, and Hamilton Pool Preserve is a short 15 minute drive away. A picnic table is conveniently provided at this site, but be sure to bring your own water. If you have a car with 4WD, you can park right next to your campsite; otherwise, you will park at the top of a hill and walk 50m down to camp. This is a little haven in the hill country!

What a great property, and so close to Austin! My friends and I needed an affordable camping spot for a weekend getaway and this was perfect! The small lake is super close, just across a footbridge, but the campsite piece is secluded enough that you can avoid folks on the lake if you choose. I will mention that it is in a neighborhood, so there are dogs barking and other people walking around the path along Deer Lake. We also unfortunately had a truck playing loud music come down the large hill to our campsite several times in the night. I would absolutely recommend this site if you’re looking for a short weekend getaway and missing the outdoors. It’s proximity to Pedernales and Hamilton is another nice perk!

Great spot. Will be back!
Really nice area. There is a beautiful view and rolling hills and lots of cool deer to look at.
