Located on 35 acres just 6 miles from Round Top Square, this converted pole barn can host up to 6 people in air-conditioned comfort, or serve as a lodge for group tent camping. The 6 "bedables" were custom-designed to hold a comfy standard twin mattress. Want tables instead? The headboard holds the mattress in place and with a turn, you now have six sturdy tables for crafting and gathering. The space has a sitting area, kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker) and a full bathroom. The sliding doors on the back open to a lovely grove that is perfect for group tent camping. If more privacy is desired, campers may prefer a more remote spot near the creek that runs through this 35 acre property. Miniature horses and 3 donkeys reside permanently on the property. Cattle is present on a rotating basis, but is kept distant from the lodge. Deer, coyotes, and other critters have been spotted in the pastures and near the creek. The barn is adjacent to a stocked fishing pond. There are 2 cottages and a main house which operate as The Cottages on Mill Creek bed and breakfast. The barn is across the cattle guard, but within sight of these buildings from the barn front entrance, but the back camping area is more secluded.

The vibe at Tin Barn Lodge
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We stayed at Sue's Tin Barn Lodge over the weekend and had an incredible time! Sue greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the barn lodge, and set us up with fishing poles and bait. We spent the afternoon walking the 30+ acres of property, feeding carrots to the mini-horses, fishing, and cooking hotdogs in the outdoor chiminea (there was a fire pit available, but we opted for the chiminea because of strong winds)!
One of our favorite things about the lodge were the beds. There were six, super cute twin beds with extremely comfortable mattresses lining the walls of the barn. Each one had an option to be flipped over and turned into a sturdy table (see photos), which we used to play board games all night long. They are perfect for cards, board games, or dining with the whole family. Since each bed transforms into a table, you can easily seat 25 people with the benches provided.
Another favorite was the home-cooked breakfast in the morning! Sue provided a delicious breakfast and made sure to have everything set up by the time we woke up. We piled eggs, bacon, blueberry pancakes, and fruit onto our plates and ate in the lounge area of the lodge. It was such a nice and unexpected gift – just one of the many ways Sue showed us how kind and hospitable she is to her guests.
We would all highly recommend the Tin Barn Lodge as well as the tent areas outside.
5 Stars!!! We had reserved the barn for a birthday campout for my son and some friends. We had a mix of tents and some of us slept in the barn. It was a BLAST! I can't recommend Tin Barn Lodge enough. The barn was immaculate and Sue has thought of everything. The beds are comfy and the bathroom super clean. The kitchenette had everything we needed. She even provided the necessities (smore's and coffee!). It was the best glamping experience we have ever had! And the breakfast she served was wonderful. Sue was so easy to work with and had wonderful ideas for a fun things to do with the big group of kids we had. They fished, did a scavenger hunt that she organized, fed the cutie horses, but mostly ran and ran for hours. There is a gorgeous grove of oak trees that she has lights in, and the kids chased each other until they dropped. We can't wait until next time!
Where to begin?! My group of 10 ladies absolutely LOVED Sue's barn. Everywhere we turned there were cool, quirky and thoughtful details. We had wonderful bedding, towels, and the whole place felt so clean. We flipped some of the beds over to make a long kitchen table and were so grateful for the thoughtful design of the whole place. There was a wonderful shower and kitchen area in the barn that we all utilized! The best part (of course) was the wonderful pond and pasture that is behind the barn. We spend HOURS playing with, petting, hugging and feeding the mini-horses and donkeys, as well as swinging and see-sawing. 100% recommend Sue's place. We had AC, options for heat if we needed it, and Sue was always a text away and was really good about checking up on us. We had lunch at Feed & Firewater in Round Top and it was DELICIOUS, and we had a great cappuccino at Espressions Coffee & Art. Round Top is a tiny town, but it's so full of character and charm, and we were only a 10 minute drive from the downtown area!
The Tin Barn Lodge was much more comfortable and a lot larger than we expected. We had such a great time walking the trails, fishing, feeding horses and donkeys. swinging, roasting s’mores and playing ball in the field. Sue was a wonderful host! We are so thankful for this experience and we hope to come back. Oh, be sure to wear closed toed shoes! The adorable animals roam freely.
