Green Gate Farms' Colorado River Campground is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the Colorado River, and engage with our certified organic community farm.
Our two spacious, private camping areas feature fire pits, picnic tables, a hot shower and outhouse. Best of all, you can see the river (and the Treehouse we built above it).
MORE FUN (Book in Advance)
Canoeing/Kayaking: Use our two canoes and two kayaks for fishing or exploring. A beautiful three-hour paddle around Wilbarger Bend takes you past the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort (stop and have a drink!) then miles of trees and birds. Pack a picnic and make a day of this easy, secluded trip. We can pick you up and enjoy to fully enjoy the river, complete with pickup after your trip around Wilbarger Bend. ($40 per boat for the day)
As a working organic produce, pork, and flower farm, we also offer several unique amenities you won't find at any other campgrounds in the area.
-Take a one hour farm tour ($15 per person) where you'll learn about organic farming practices. Best of all, you'll get to harvest fresh produce for your fireside meals!
-Enjoy a Breakfast Basket ($30), complete with fresh produce and our very own breakfast sausage right from the farm!
-Take home an Organic Flower Bouquet ($20) as a beautiful souvenir to remember your trip by.
Though we are just a 20 minute drive to downtown Austin, being on the river makes it feel like you are a world away. Nearby friendly small towns- Bastrop, Elgin, and Smithville- are worth exploring for antiques and good food.
Extensive Hiking trails are just 10 minutes away at McKinney Roughs Natural Area or Lost Pines State Park.
If you're looking to really immerse yourself in the organic farm experience, we host volunteers on Saturday mornings- let us know if you're interested!

The vibe at River Camping on Organic Farm
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This place is kept impeccable! It is so well kept, you need to experience it yourself!
The entire campground is surrounded by trees and the ground is very comfy grass and its also located right next to a small river.
Depending on the time of year so come, you might need bug spray because as you might know, mosquitoes and other bugs like hanging along the water.
The campground is located about 30 minutes from Austin with some gas stations near by in case you might want a snack or something - the closest one would probably be 10 min away.
I would totally recommend this location, it's very quiet and peaceful but it's far away from anyone where you don't have to be overly quiet. You've got to visit, it is a perfect getaway location or even if your driving by.
