The vibe at Sandy Ridge Camping
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
“Sandy Ridge” is what makes HipCamp so enjoyable. The host, Cody, was very prompt and helpful in his communication. Cody and his wife, Ingrid, gave us a warm welcome as soon as we arrived then proceeded to show us the property.
Camp Site #1 is a great spot that overlooks the pond, but we chose Site #2 which is an isolated clearing in the woods. Our day mostly consisted of lounging in the shade and going for a walk around the large property, which is a beautiful Pecan Farm. At night, we cooked dinner over the fire, played guitar, and sang songs.
The property is far away from any major roads so you can feel the quiet peace of country life. The stars were bright, the moon was full, and I slept like a baby.
The hosts were hospitable, and I will definitely be staying here again. Thanks, Cody for having us!
We stayed at Site #2 in a cozy clearing surrounded by trees that provided all the amenities of the gorgeous weather, but provided relief from the wind. The trails are scenic in such a way that you can easily forget the humdrum of everyday life and completely immerse yourself in nature. The pond was a short trail hike away for fishing or just admiring the colors of the trees reflecting off the sun into the water. The restroom and potable water facilities were better than anticipated - always kept clean and available for easy use. Cody and his family were wonderful hosts, always available to answer any questions or show us around. This is definitely a hidden gem in East Texas!
I highly recommend staying at Sandy Ridge! Cody and Ingrid were so nice and the place was beautiful! We were having trouble finding firewood where we are from because of the season so I asked Cody if he knew where I could get some nearby? It turns out they allow you to gather your own (no trees were harmed) or he will sell you some. This was the perfect place for my boyfriend and I and our two labs! We had never taken them camping so we didn't know how they would do, especially if we had been in a crowded campsite. We camped near the pond up on the hill and it was beautiful! Our dogs enjoyed swimming in the pond and walking along the trails in the wooded area!
What an awesome place! Cody and Ingrid were very welcoming and extremely accommodating.
They greeted us upon arrival and gave us some great ideas of things to do while camping there. We enjoyed hiking the trails that surround the property and relaxing by the greenhouse watching the multitude of hummingbirds.
If you're looking for nice quiet getaway, Sandy Ridge would be a great choice.
Just got back from a weekend stay on Campground #2. We went for my mother in laws birthday and brought our two year old with us. It was very secluded, and the hosts were very friendly helping us around the property. We had a great time and will definitely be back! Our only recommendation is that they start renting ATV's for their guests! Wonderful property, thank you again!
