Woodrow Call's High $$$ Hillbilly Hideout is 12+ acres of gently rolling biologically diverse Deep East Texas hills along the northern gateway to the Greater Big Thicket region.  Approximately half an hour to Lake Livingston(45 minutes depending on which part you are visiting), Martin Dies Jr. and Sam Rayburn. Many other parks, preserves and forest surround the area. The camp is private and the only thing you can see, from some of the hiking trails, beside the highway along the northern border is my own camp residence in the interior.  There are numerous places where you could establish camp that you can see nothing but trees and meadows.  An oil well is also visible when you are on the southeastern corner, but has not been operating at all for months and has been totally quiet for months as well.  You can pretty much pick and carve out your own campground within designated areas,  I will tell you which areas are protected where rare or beneficial plants exist. 4 wheel drive is recommended to drive to the back when it is wet otherwise you can pull in and hike to the tent sites in the back.  Currently, during winter, with all the rain, a truck or a vehicle with some clearance is recommended as at the entrance of the property you have to cross a ditch with water in it.  Two wheel drive can easily make it when done properly unless there are recent heavy rains, the property drains quickly however with the hills and sandy soil, and as a bonus heavy rains create babbling brooks and small waterfalls along the draws and streams.   Only one party per time and target practice, hunting,(hunting and target practice are available for an additional fee per person after a quick competency and coherency meeting to make sure are competent with a firearm and have a bearing for the layout of the land) dogs on leashes, horses, and atvs on the trails are all allowed when used and kept responsibly according to Texas law. Workcamping opportunities may be possible for the right people after the initial paid stay of four days.
