Site 1 is closest to the small bridge & , it also has a large fire ring & it will be the closest to the outdoor kitchen area we now building(power/water). If you want privacy I suggest renting both riverside sites! We do have a bathhouse with a flush toilet up the hill, it is a bit of a hike, but, it is nothing a person in decent shape can’t manage. Due to COVID-19 we encourage people to bring a solar shower or your own porta potty.
If you like to fish, float, swim, or kayak you will love this spot!
We only allow 1 vehicle per site, so please if you have more than 1 car it needs to be parked up top. This is to cut down on wear and tear on our grass as well as courtesy to our cabin guests and other campers. Actually if you want to unpack then park up topside if you are going to be coming and going a lot that would be much appreciated!! Also please no Trailers allowed on the lower level.
We do have hosts who live on the property. Lyn and I live in Corpus Christi and try to get up there every 4-6 weeks so sometimes we are around and we do love to meet our guests in person!

More fun continues
The site was great. This is our second time back within 1 month and we plan on going again. Site 1 is the larger of the 2 and our tent and screen tent were in shade the entire time. The hosts were helpful. About one mile up the road is a small convenience store for ice.
This is the perfect place is you are looking for access to the river, and don't mind a lot of other things going on. The bathroom trailer is a really nice touch and something you don't often find in camping. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion, this is not the place to stay.
This is a great little spot out in the Hill Country. Our party of 6 reserved all three of the riverside sites, which gave us a large area to spread out. The three sites aren't very well marked from one another, so three unrelated parties using these sites would probably need to learn to be friendly. The lines between sites would blur very quickly.
There are enough flat areas to be able to pitch tents level, and there are enough trees at the proper distance to hang hammocks for about 5, although they are mostly all clustered together and probably part of a single site.
The river access is great. We brought a canoe with a small motor and enjoyed getting out on the water. We brought some tubes to relax in as well. We used the canoe to pull the tubes up river a few hundred yards to a cliff face and enjoyed the shade it casted.
The bathhouse up the hill was a great thing to have. The girls really enjoyed being able to shower on a daily basis. We brought a portable toilet for near the campsite, but we mostly just went uphill and used the bathhouse.
The neighbors across the river were loud, but it didn't really bother me, and the hosts warned us before we came out. Bring earplugs for at night if music bothers you.
Several in our party mentioned to me that they would love to visit again, and I think we will. I would want to rent all three sites again to ensure we had plenty of space.
As a side note, we went in to Bandera to float the Medina river. We used Medina River Company for a shuttle. The river was pretty low so the float was slow and we had to walk a couple of times. The entrance and exit we used were only a couple of minute drive apart. If you have your own tubes, I'm not sure it was worth using the shuttle. It was still a great experience and the river had plenty of shade.
We had a wonderful time at a beautiful place. The birds soaring over the water in the early morning were stunning!! Many great memories were made around the campfire. We rented all 3 sites for a multi family trip and had plenty of space for our kiddos and pups to run around. The camp hosts were kind and helpful.
On a side note: The neighbors across the way were a little loud in the evenings, but they didn't wake the kids and eventually quited down so no harm done. It won't deter me from coming back!
Amazing camping experience!!
We absolutely loved this piece of land. Great spot for exploring, wading in the river (it was super low), walking up the hill for the bathroom, but knowing the view is totally worth it, fog on the river in the morning, cranes flying up and down the river, clear skies full of stars, and peace. Thank you Carol-Anne and Lyn for allowing us to enjoy your piece of land. We made great memories of what turned out to be an epic surprise 40th camping trip. Easy to get to, clean and safe sites, welcoming host, great firewood, clean bathroom that wasn't hard to walk to, and totally affordable for private land camping. Thank you so much!!!
Nice quick getaway!
If you are looking for a quick getaway Boulderdash is the place to go. Sites were clean and park is small. It was perfect for my children to run and play. Bath house was well kept. Definitely coming back.
My only complaint would be the property across the river, they partied into the early morning hours. We tent camped so we didn’t have “quite time” . But other than that, park was very nice and so was Paul— our hostess.
Another great night at basecamp!
This was our second time staying at Boulderdash and the kids loved it just as much...the adults too! It’s a safe, well kept, private, beautiful location. It’s almost impossible to find camping sites in TX parks so it’s nice being able to find such an affordable and private spot literally right on the river!
Relaxing and cool
The on-site host was great. Made sure we knew where to get ice if needed. The bathrooms were surprisingly very nice, enough so, that my wife has agreed to go on our next trip here. The site was clean and spacious. Perfect place for hammocks as well. Nice place to cool off and swim for the little ones. Go downstream a bit for it to be deep enough for adult to swim (at its current level). Have already mad reservations for another stay. We were able to use the electric and water. 4 outlets we used only for charging the phone to take pictures. Only downside for my teens (I was glad) was the wifi was not always available done by the campsite. We did get signal with TMobile at the site if needed for emergency.
