Places to see near Boulderdash
The owners were very responsive to all our questions and the hosts were equally gracious when we arrived. We pulled up late, around 9 pm, and the host came out and assisted guiding us into our spot. They were super nice all weekend. Although the location is nice and well kept, it was not as secluded as the pictures suggest. There were kayaks available for use that we chose not to due to water temperature, but having that as an option was great. There was no real hiking that seemed available due to the road being very close by and a lack of trails. The view was great from the deck, but the sites are pretty close together. All in all, it was a nice place, with very nice hosts, but we would not return due to wanting a more secluded camping experience.
It's always a sweet break from the day to day to stay at Boulderdash. Site #3 is our favorite because our view from the front is just gorgeous. It's a small site perfect for our little trailer.
Boulderdash is a great spot if you're trying to avoid the crowds at state parks or large RV parks. Great view and easy access to the Medina River. The hosts/owners were very accommodating and friendly, grounds were well maintained and clean. Looking forward to coming back and seeing what else they add to the campground. Good times!

We appreciate the review & enjoyed hosting your family!
Very nice and quiet. Lots of wildlife to watch. Very friendly staff. For our very first trip in our camper, it was great!
Thank you, The Williams Family

TY TY TY!!
Beautiful view overlooking Medina river, lots of birds and deer that come very close to watch. Very friendly and welcoming host! All questions answered quickly and accurately. For our first camping adventure with our new camper it was perfect! No issues at all, perfect fit for our camper and little family. We enjoyed our stay very much!

AWE....Pictures!! I love Pictures, thank you so much for posting Bradie, we really appreciate you, and hope to see you again soon!
We actually wound up staying in site #2 as we simply could not get into #3, but that’s not anyone’s fault in particular, it’s just a tight spot. However, the property in general is truly amazing and a beloved far cry from a standard RV “Park”. If you are seeking a secluded, private, quiet and more natural environment to stay at in your camper, this is ideal. The riverfront is absolutely stunning, even when the water line is receded (as may occasionally be the case considering that the river is for irrigation purposes and feeds into the Medina Lake), and even then provides for a short walk to the actual water. If you want a private fire, you may want to bring your own fire ring or fire bowl because there is a shared fire ring provided and you may not always have access to it. The view from each site is stunning and provides for perfect sunrise viewing as well as interaction and observation of lots of natural wildlife! If you’re a fisher, bring a rod and net as there’s plenty of chances to catch your own live bait! We loved our relaxing stay here and can’t wait to return in the future when we are able.

Thank-you Launi! We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves! We are just in our infancy at this point, so I hope by next year we will have a bit more grass and wildflowers and a bit less catus!! Thank you so much for the review!
Boulderdash is a very small, private owned, RV campground with full RV hook ups, for about three or four RV's. It is about 21 minutes from Hwy 16, with a few winding roads but nonetheless, worth the drive. GPS was ALMOST on point with one exception. However, we were able to figure it out pretty quick and turn around to get us back on the right path. I'm sure if I had used the directions they provided after we booked, there wouldn't have been any wrong turns. The river was very low directly in front of the property but within walking distance to the left, was a nicely filled river. My husband thoroughly enjoyed fishing as the fish were plentiful. My two pomeranians LOVED walking in the water and even met a friendly local dog that was hanging out in and around the river. The walk to the water is a bit rocky but the rocks are smooth river rocks and not sharp at all. My dogs didn't have a hard time walking on them as we walked slow to ensure their safety. The area is very quiet and peaceful so if you're tired of loud noisy neighbors in your typical RV park, you might just appreciate this campground! We did!

Thanks so much Monica, yes we a a bit off the beaten path, but that's part of our charm! Glad y'all enjoyed yourselves!
My husband and I tent camped in site #3 which had an amazing view with an observation deck just to the right, overlooking the beautiful Medina River. This is a private camp ground with 4 RV spots and a cabin rental. The grounds are very clean and is only a very short jaunt down to the river. The water was low on our visit but great swimming holes and fishing was just a short walk away. I was amazed at how private our chunk of river was, especially for 4th of July, so if you like to get away from crowds this is definitely the place to go. At the time we were here we were the only campers and had the place to ourselves. The camp hosts, Josh & Shelly, were wonderful and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. They gifted us a s'mores basket upon our arrival....such a nice touch! We loved this site and will definitely be back soon. I highly recommend Boulderdash!

Thank you so much! We appreciate the review and look forward to your next visit!!

Hi David sorry to hear that you were disappointed. I mention in the listing that the Hill country state Natural area is a short drive away, and is great for hiking. We do pride ourselves on the fact that we only have 4 RV sites, so as far as the proximity and privacy, I guess i'm not sure what your expectations were.... we set up our sites so that each trailer would have a view of the river & hills. Anyway, thanks for your feedback, we wish you HAPPY CAMPING in the future!!
