The vibe at Blue Chip Ranch
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Joe’s property, Blue Chip Ranch, sits conveniently right off the highway. You’ll know you’ve arrived at his site when you see the wooden fence with light blue wagon wheels propped against it. Open the gate slowly and be sure to lock it behind you because there’s lots of animals that could otherwise get out!
Speaking of animals we met four of the sweetest horses you’ll ever meet. They watched our van pull up into the driveway with a mixture of curiosity and shyness. We snapped a few photos and ate a few snacks and it wasn’t long before their curiosity got the best of them and they came to say hey. They let us pet them and in this digital age it was nice to unplug and have en experience with something other than a screen.
In addition to the horses there’s also a goat, several chickens, a duck, a guinea hen and a couple of the most beautiful Scottish highlander cows at this site. For those of you who have always wanted one of those for your instagram feed, now’s your chance.
As for the site itself you’ve got plenty of flat space to choose from. Though there’s puddles in some areas, it was dry in lots of other spots. We found a place down by the pond and the little dock suited us best.
We recommend this spot if you’re just passing through and or you love animals and want a camping experience that includes friendly animals.
