This sweet cottage is ideal for those who want to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities of Kerrville and come back to a place with all the comforts of home. The cottage is small, but it has all you may need: a full bathroom with a shower, a kitchen complete with oven, microwave, and dishes/utensils, a covered outdoor porch with a firepit (firewood provided), and private access to the Guadalupe River right out the back door. Barbara lives at a house across the street, so she is available to help with anything you may need. She introduced herself upon our arrival and then gave us space to enjoy the property. We loved the provided breakfast of yogurt, hot coffee, and cinnamon rolls!
A walking/biking trail begins right next to the property, and offers beautiful views of the flora and fauna of the region. The trail runs adjacent to the Guadalupe River, so it’s worth bringing your suit if you get hot and fancy a quick dip in the water! If you want to explore the town, Kerrville has a neat downtown area that is easily accessed by foot or bike. Pax Coffee and Goods offers a great cup of coffee. During our stay, trail construction was being done on a section close to the cottage. Though a little noisy, we spent most of our time at the river or walking the trail and weren’t bothered by the sounds of construction, which stopped in the evening time.
We spent our evening sitting on the back porch with cups of hot camomile tea in hand, watching fireflies fill the evening air. It was a peaceful end to a lovely stay.
We had the best time exploring Kerrville from our home base on the Guadalupe. Barbara is an outstanding host. Her and her dog, Jasper, made us (and our dogs) feel right at home. We loved every minute.
