This sweet cottage is ideal for those who want to enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities of Kerrville and come back to a place with all the comforts of home. The cottage is small, but it has all you may need: a full bathroom with a shower, a kitchen complete with oven, microwave, and dishes/utensils, a covered outdoor porch with a firepit (firewood provided), and private access to the Guadalupe River right out the back door. Barbara lives at a house across the street, so she is available to help with anything you may need. She introduced herself upon our arrival and then gave us space to enjoy the property. We loved the provided breakfast of yogurt, hot coffee, and cinnamon rolls!

A walking/biking trail begins right next to the property, and offers beautiful views of the flora and fauna of the region. The trail runs adjacent to the Guadalupe River, so it’s worth bringing your suit if you get hot and fancy a quick dip in the water! If you want to explore the town, Kerrville has a neat downtown area that is easily accessed by foot or bike. Pax Coffee and Goods offers a great cup of coffee. During our stay, trail construction was being done on a section close to the cottage. Though a little noisy, we spent most of our time at the river or walking the trail and weren’t bothered by the sounds of construction, which stopped in the evening time.

We spent our evening sitting on the back porch with cups of hot camomile tea in hand, watching fireflies fill the evening air. It was a peaceful end to a lovely stay.

The bird's nest is a perfect name for this place. I sat on the back porch (you actually have two little porches to yourself to choose) and watched the birds come in to feed throughout the day. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this perfect little cottage on the river, but I can say that the cottage is born of the love and sweat of its beautiful owner next door. I took lots of photos of the place, but none quite capture its humble charm. I will also say the location cannot be beat. Walk out your back yard to the river trail, bike to town for groceries if you need them, jump on the road to Bandera or anywhere else super quick. Also know, Barbara has everything you will need...EVERYTHING; pots, pans, salt and pepper, OFF, towels. Bring shampoo and bodywash.

My husband and I spent our 5th wedding anniversary at Barbara’s little oasis on the Guadalupe, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay. The cottage was cozy and had all the comforts of home - kitchen supplies, A/C, comfy bedding, a small TV with satellite, a charcoal grill, even a fenced in yard that our dog loved (disclaimer, the fence may not be secure for larger dogs or escape artists though it was sufficient for our older guy). But of course what we loved the most was getting to enjoy the beautiful natural area around us. It’s described here as being the best of both worlds, secluded and serene while only blocks away from the amenities of Kerrville, and we learned during our stay that that’s no coincidence - owner and host Barbara has worked tirelessly through the years to keep the area as natural as possible while still allowing visitors to enjoy it. We got to take long walks along the lovely paved trail by the river, spent a whole day swimming and lounging in the shade of the cypress trees on Barbara’s own private river bank, and enjoyed a cookout in our little backyard as we watched the fireflies fill the air. It was a truly memorable experience made all the more special by the kindness and hospitality of our host. We can’t wait to return!

We had the best time exploring Kerrville from our home base on the Guadalupe. Barbara is an outstanding host. Her and her dog, Jasper, made us (and our dogs) feel right at home. We loved every minute.

Our family of 3 really enjoyed staying in this cabin. We wanted to stay 2 extra nights to continue the fun, but then the weather changed for the worse. The location was very convenient to access the river trail as well as shops and restaurants. The wi-fi worked great so we could have a working vacation. Barbara was a knowledgeable and friendly host with good recommendations for things to do. We will definitely be back to contine exploring the local area and hopefully work less and play more.

I've been to many bed and breakfast in my time but this was the best by far. The cottage was great. Sitting outside in the morning and the evening watching all that God has to offer us was just lovely.
Barbara was great and made the trip so enjoyable 😊. Loved it!

We had a wonderful time and Barbara was so genuine and nice. The only thing missing was a longer time to stay! She was especially welcoming to my Winston (fur baby). Will be back for sure.

Barbara's cabin on the Guadalupe River was the low key getaway we needed. The space is small but situated nicely and is equipped with all the essentials. The backyard was my favorite part - very natural and transports you to your own space in the woods.
