Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
This review is long overdue. My brother and I stayed here on our annual sibling trip. The site location was perfect considering we were traveling into Big Bend every day to hike. The site itself is situated in the middle of the ruins in the area and super cool views. The restrooms/showers were clean. The owner of the site was very responsive and even reached out to notify me of speed traps as we made our way to check in. I would highly recommend this place and would come back again.

This site was perfect for a mother-daughter escape to west Texas. Betsy was a great host. She sent us detailed directions and a helpful packing list before we arrived and met us on site to show us to our tent. She even gave us tips on Big Bend and the few restaurants located in Terlingua. Terlingua Ghost Town was a perfect basecamp for our Big Bend trip - two restaurants within walking distance, a gas station down the street, and the park entrance only a 15 minute drive away. A cold beer and live music at the Starlight Theater were a much needed escape from the heat of the late afternoon, and the campsite looking out over the Chisos mountains gave us a front row seat for a gorgeous sunset. It was also a perfect spot for stargazing at night, and just writing this review makes me want to go back.

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
I had a great experience camping at this site. The toilets and shower are lifesavers and it's a close walk from electricity, water and coffee as the great La Posada café. Betsy and Pat were super helpful and friendly and gave us great recommendations for Terlingua and Big Bend sites. The camp is right across from the cemetery and a few ruins, which are very cool sites to check out. Heads up, some of the camp sites are close to one another, so be prepared to have neighbors and control your noise after 12 AM. I would recommend this site to anyone because of the cost and comfort and closeness to Big Bend.

Great experience! We spend 2 nights of our honeymoon in one of Besty and Pat's tents. Loved every minute of it. Highly recommend it. Very easy to work with Best and Pat!

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
Great Campsite. Really clean shower and bathroom. I liked the location which is walking distance from Terlingua restaurants. The night sky was amazing from the campsite. Overall this is the best campsite we ever stayed.
The owner Betsy is really awesome. She gave us detailed instruction how to reach there. I am really thankful to her as she received our call at midnight to give us directions to the campsite.

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
Betsy was a great host. I had reservations on consecutive nights but I was unable to get them in the same camp site. Betsy worked with us and other campers to get us in the same spot for our stay. She was a delight to talk to each day when she came to check on the camp site.
My only suggestions for future campers is to bring lights with red lenses to walk around with when it gets dark. Regular lights work great except they kill the night vision for other campers trying to star gaze. On that same subject if campers could back their vehicles in so their headlights aren't towards the tents, it would be considerate to all. We had a late night car alarm going off and the headlights were flashing right at our tent for a couple minutes until the vehicle owner turned off the alarm.
For desert camping, it probably doesn't get much better than this. Level campsites most with fire pits, two "outhouses" with flushing toilets, and one shower with sink to share. The ghost town is as unique as it comes in Texas. Short drive to the National Park or state park. Absolute gorgeous sunrise over the mountains each morning. First on my list of camp sites if I make it back to the area.

Betsy and Pat are great people. The setup is awesome and it's a great way to experience Terlingua and the Big Bend area. We will def. be coming back and staying here again at some point.

Big Bend Campsites Sibley Tents
This was a perfect segue into our Big Bend trip! We stopped off in Terlingua for a few days before backcountry camping in the park and it was absolutely magical. The tents are beautiful (though I recommend ear-plugs as they can be loud if it is windy out), the showers and bathrooms are clean and refreshing, and it's on a gorgeous piece of land with lots to explore.

Polite hosts, adequate sites. Lots of noise at the site, ear plugs a necessity. Coyote noise, car noise, other camper noise. Very close to other camper campsites.

We stayed here for two nights during our trip to Big Bend. It is an easy drive into the park, about 30-40minutes. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located to all the campsites - and have dim lights so you can spot it in the dark! Major plus as it gets really dark out here. The shower area is very well planned out with a changing area, bench, towel hooks and mirror right next to the shower and a sink outside. We made the short walk to Starlight Theater for dinner and Espresso y poco mas for breakfast each day. Terlingua is a truly special spot and this campsite is nestled in an ideal spot!

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
Great spot in the quirky town of Terlingua. We reserved during the Chihuahuan desert bike fest. The site was very convenient to many places around the area. There were plenty of like-minded neighbors at the campsite, which is good because the spots are fairly close together. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities too. We'll definitely stay again!

Pat and Betsy are awesome. Tent sites are fine but they also have "yurts" you can rent. It can get dusty there so look into that option if you can swing it.

Inside a small ghost town. well maintained sites. Also great breakfast place within walking distance. Bars and buildings have lights on them so not really isolated campground. Good for access to bars and social activities.

The campsite is a great spot not too far from Big Bend, and is very open and spread out. I stayed at site 5 which was close to the bathrooms and shower, which is by the Boathouse FYI (we had trouble finding them).

This campsite was an absolute dream! Really cool surroundings and really well kept. We arrived at night and Betsy left the lantern on for us and checked in via email to make sure we found it okay! The bathrooms on the site were surprisingly nice! Everything was super cute and very well maintained. The drive from Austin was hefty, but it was totally worth it when you look up and see the beautiful stars! We went in the summer so it was pretty damn hot, but it cooled down at night to a really lovely temperature. The site is super close to big bend and there's plenty to explore in the ghost town. I would definitely recommend. Only suggestion is to bring lots of water.
Also, the bed was amazingly comfortable and the tent has flaps you can open and just leave the screen so you can wake up to the beautiful sunset!
We didn't use the fire pit but there is one! 5 bagillion stars :)

Enjoyed our one night stay! We didn't spend a ton of time around camp because we opted for Big Bend National Park as often as we could but I can say that the amenities are nice, the hosts are responsive if there are any issues (like we couldn't locate the showers late at night) and the area is great. We walked up to the Starlite Theater and Restaurant for a couple of drinks after a day of hiking and mixed with the locals there.

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
This site was everything you need and more. The site is very picturesque, and right off the main road through the town. Minimal noise at night with a great view looking down into BBNP. The restrooms/shower/sink were probably the cleanest facilities I've seen on a campground in TX. The paths around the campsites were well-lit with solar-powered LED tiki lights, and you never felt too far away from help if you needed it. Las Ruinas were beautiful - right across the street from the historic Terlingua cemetery and down the road from the Starlight Theatre.
The experience was great - if you get the chance to camp here, please do!

Big Bend Campsites Sibley Tents
We loved it! We stayed for two nights. The bed is super comfortable. The location can't be beat being right in the ruins of the old town. I didn't see any snakes or scorpions, just some cute bunny rabbits! The bathrooms and shower were nice and easy to get to, I would certainly go back.

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
Staying at Terlingua, I felt like I was in another country. I highly recommend stopping in Terliingua for a night if you're on your way into Big Bend National Park. It's incredible to see the way other people live and it really showed me what simplicity means. The ghost town has it all, though: a theater, a church, a coffee shop and restaurant, flushing toilets, a cemetery, locals, a Saturday Market, but perhaps most importantly, a beautiful sunrise and sunset and - when the moon isn't full - a dark, starry sky that will remind you just how vast this world is.

Best campground in the area just around Big Bend. Nice owners, very accommodating, helped us find a spot even at the last minute during Spring Break. Really pretty with the "ruinas" there and mountains in the distance, and a number of good restaurants and cafes nearby.

Big Bend Campsites - Terlingua Las Ruinas Camp
Awesome alternative if you can't find a campsite in Big Bend and want to explore the western part of the park. I would recommend getting there before dark. We were lucky enough to have Betsy greet us and show us around, otherwise it would have been a bit of a challenge to find the camp spot and what not. Terlingua's nightlife was great and the food was exactly what was needed after a long day's hike.
Definitely a must when in the area! I would totally pitch a tent there again!

This campsite was great! When I first rolled up, I was a little skeptical, but the location in Terlingua is amazing, right behind a restaurant and bar called The Boathouse, and just a five minute walk from the Starlight Theater. The hosts were extremely accommodating, and in addition to helping us get situated, they gave us a great run down of the local history and the best things to do in town. It is about a 15 minute drive to the southwest entrance to the park, perfect for sunrise over Santa Elena Canyon. I would HIGHLY recommend this campsite!
