If you feel like venturing out, we're a short drive from the Big Thicket National Preserve, where you can enjoy hiking, biking, and canoeing, and, if you're feeling lucky, we're just 26 miles from the nearest casino. As the song goes, "Just follow your arrow, wherever it points." Arrow Acres offers a peaceful get away from the city and busy life. Our tiny houses are for folks that like intimate spaces that are cozy and homespun. You'll be charmed by how comfy and relaxed it feels to nest in a tiny home. Enjoy morning coffee on the covered front porch or hangout snuggled up in the treelined loft upstairs. Even though the farmhouse is tiny, you'll find its larger than a hotel room and comfortable. The tiny house sits on the property with 3 other tiny house rentals and a barn that is also available for rent as a venue. All 3 houses are staggered to give each house privacy and a view of the pond. We are right off the main road (HWY 69) but toward the back of the property away from the road. Don’t judge a book by its cover
Cabin was super cute on arrival and we were excited for our stay! We were three moms looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Unfortunately, when we entered the cabin, dog hair was found on pillows, and floors as well as stains on cabinets. We also only had a partial roll of toilet paper with nothing extra to be found. After cleaning up these issues and dinner, we decided to play some games and hang out.
While playing Games , my friend started noticing small brown flying and crawling bugs coming from the window sills and door frame. They were continually pouring in and we only had exterior bug spray in the house. The door had remained shut for several hours and the windows were never opened, it was obvious they were coming in due to poor sealing surfaces. We then called owner and who came over with a can of OFF and sprayed doorways and watched bugs crawl all over the walls and ceiling, and then wished us a good night. We had to clean and kill bugs for the next 2 hours until we ended up Giving up and going to bed.
Sadly, she never checked up on the situation and also never brought bug repellent for the inside of the cabin. We thankfully bought some at the local Walmart, as well as more toilet paper to finish out our stay. When we notified her of our purchases to prevent the bug situation from reoccurring, she said city people don’t understand that the country has bugs. I live in the country surrounded by horses, cows, donkeys, and pigs as well plenty of bugs and have never seen them come in through door frames and window sills as easily as they did and at such volume. She was very unapologetic.
Relaxing little farmhouse
Arrow Acres was the cutest little spot for our girls weekend. The home was clean and had plenty of amenities. The only issue we had was there was a termite swarm the first night that we ended up having to take into our own hands. This was not your typical bugs in the woods situation and I doubt it happens again or often. I do feel that the owners should have taken the time to help fix the situation rather than sweeping a few off the wall and offering a can of “Off.” We spent quite a few hours of our weekend killing and cleaning termites instead of enjoying our stay. Other than that, it’s a nice little place.
The Tiny house was absolutely beautiful. The decor was so cute. The location is perfect if you are wanting to be relax and enjoy the outdoors. My only complaint is that one night we had a swarm of termites outside our door. Somehow they were getting in the house and we spent a couple hours trying to kill them off. I don’t have a problem with bugs but there were just so many coming in. The host was nice enough to come sweep them off the wall but that didn’t fix the problem because they were still coming in. We ended up having to go buy our own flying insect killer because unfortunately our host did not do anything else to fix the issue. The host are very friendly I just wish they would have been a little more proactive about fixing our bug problem. Even apologizing to us would have been nice.
