$15 per person, per night.     Pitch your tent anywhere on our private fenced in 30 acres which is surrounded like an island around 3,000 acres of cattle ranches. Stars are amazing.  Post oak springs pond has water in the spring.  Only 2 hours from San Antonio or Austin and 4 from Dallas/Fort Worth area. Excellent private camping and you will enjoy 5 miles due north is the excellent Llano river and town of Castell, population 7.  Meaning 7 people live IN Castell, the ranch is 5 miles south.

$15 per person even for the day because

It’s $15 per person per night. How do I know who stays after dark? Do I check at your camp for a head count? What if they love and have traveled this far to hang with y’all for the day, driven a car, or two or idk, learned the gate code? Also, I would not be covered under Hip camps $1,000,000 insurance policy because the guests were not mine. So, as you can see, as a land owner, offering an excellent opportunity to share 30 private remote acres with the world I have to charge $15 per person on each person entering the property. It is very very well worth the experience. Thank you for your interest

Solitude Sanctuary is a unique, eclectic property with so many fun features. The host, Janice, built the house herself on land that has been in her family for over 100 years! Janice was sweet and hospitable from the get-go - we loved getting a tour of each room and hearing stories about her family history. Every room is full of personal touches that make the space feel like home. I loved the yoga and meditation loft upstairs! With multiple rooms and bathrooms and a HUGE kitchen and living room area, this house would be perfect for a large group. Janice graciously shared her dinner of rice and venison sausage with us that night, which we demolished a few bowls of each (I can’t guarantee a delicious homemade dinner for other campers, though:) )

We did not stay in the house, but instead set up our tent on the property. With over 30 acres of land on the property, there is plenty of room to set up your tent however close or far away from the main house you choose. We set up our tent down by the pond, which is about 400m away from the house (the perks of this spot are easy access to the bathroom/outdoor shower and the reflection of the starry night in the pond). After chowing down on Janice’s homemade meal, we got in the hot tub and star gazed for well over an hour. The night sky was incredible - there is hardly no light/sound pollution from the nearby town of Castell, so we felt very much immersed in the outdoors. This property is a great home base for further exploration into the nearby town of Fredericksburg or Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

Janice is working on several different projects on the property - several outhouses for future campers, a garden, an orchard - so there were tools and bags of mulch stacked around the house. But the construction never interfered with our experience! We had a great time, and I can’t wait to visit this property again in the future.

We had such a wonderful time at the Ranch. We showed up with 4 kids under the age of 9 in tow and Janice was so amazing. The property is beautiful, Janice is such a lovely host. Bathroom and outdoor shower are very helpful and more than we expected. We will definitely return again soon!

First time Hipcamper. Tent camped here with my 2 teenage kids. Host was easy to communicate with regarding question I had. Directions were great. Property as expected (not a resort. This a Texas country ranch!) . We picked a site down by the small pond but you could be more remote if you wanted to be. Bottom line I wanted to camp without the people and interruptions of a state park. This was perfect for that. 40 min on ranch roads from Enchanted Rock which was perfect for a day or climbing. Site was easy to use. All good.

Janice is an amazing host and her generosity is above and beyond anything we had expected. My girlfriend and I arrived at the ranch late and Janice provided accommodations to help make our stay much easier. The next day, Janice gave us a grand tour of her gorgeous property and allowed us to set up camp by the pond. The site was so magestic and private that we almost forgot anyone else was there. We ate, stargazed, and relaxed every day. Everything was perfect and Janice made sure we were happy and all of our needs were met. I will definitely stay here again in the future the next time I visit the area.

This place was AWESOME! Janice gave very clear directions and I had no issues getting here. There was great communication and it was like staying at a friend or family member’s place. The property is gorgeous and though I came alone, Ridge the cat kept me company! There are some gorgeous spots near by and if you stay here do yourself a favor and get a burger at the Castell General Store! I look forward to staying here again!
