43 acres hosted by Kim S.
We are a small veteran owned homestead located on the Cumberland Plateau in middle Tennessee. We are close to Greeter Falls, Stone Door, Fiery Gizzard Trail, Sewanee Collage, Cumberland Caverns, Dutch Maid Bakery (TN oldest bakery) and other local sites and trails. When we purchased our property in 2016, it was 43 densely wooded acres. Our home is off-grid (100% solar and rain water catchment). Our cabins are grid tied. We are slowly expanding our useable land for trails, livestock, camping and other activities. We have free range chickens (with eggs for sale), a Diva goat, dogs, and cats. During the season, we have a garden and excess produce is available. There are feeders set up to encourage wildlife watching (deer, birds, squirrels, raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, opossums, armadillos, turkeys). We have very little "light noise", which makes star gazing on a clear moonless night EXCELLENT. Across from our cabins is our classroom/brew shed. We are working on offering small classes on various topics (marshmallow making, food preservation, beginner beer making, etc) and Troy loves to share a beer with new (or old) friends. With access to several local artisans, you will see unique items both in the cabins and on our property with some available for purchase. Exploring our property or visiting the many local state park trails is fun. For extended stays, we are a good base for day trips to Nashville, Chattanooga or Lynchburg. Up here on the mountain, it is a slower laid back pace. We are an ideal spot to get away and decompress. Just take a breath and relax by the spring or the creek. Take a mat to one of the rocks over looking the spring/creek and do some yoga or meditate with nature. If you would like some exercise, you are always welcome to help expand trails/paths, clear underbrush or help in the garden. The Smiddy Farm Gym can offer a good ol' fashioned hard labor workout!! :)
