45 private acres on our homestead for you to roam. Seven eclectic sites to choose from ranging from primitive camping to a lovely log cabin. All except the log cabin lovingly built by the owner, loaded with creative touches. Featuring: * Two gorgeous waterfalls. Each of our stay-sites are located within about 100-150 yards of Fifty-foot tall Miller’s Falls. * A large cave at the end of a short, but rugged hike. * A fairy Village filled with Hollow Oak Tree Fairy homes. The trees glow after dark. We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located. I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one. I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience. It's the Village 2.0 for guests. Or not. Life in the city is OK as long as you can get away frequently. I'm convinced if you love nature and the outdoors, this is the best place to celebrate it.

Treehouse Campsite

Relax in the Beech Treetops on a private covered deck above a cliff, just 20 yards from the top of our magnificent, private 50-foot waterfall. Disclaimer: The flow of the waterfall is subject to fluctuations in temperature, seasonal droughts and rain fall. The most favorable seasons for waterfall flow are fall, winter and early spring. Hike miles of trails through deep canyons, caves, waterfalls, creeks and cascades right here on our property or in any of eight State Parks within 30 minutes.  It’s a nature lover’s paradise. At the end of an exciting day, chill out under the waterfall, then regroup in a hot shower under an up-purposed Satellite Dish roof.  So many creative touches to this unique treehouse! Cook a gourmet meal in the well-equipped kitchen, barbecue on the deck or do s’mores around the private fire pit. Then retire to the upstairs loft in a queen bed.  Heat provided, but you’ll want to leave the windows open for the fresh breeze and lulling sounds of the waterfall. The Beech Treehouse Sleeping Capacity is six adults with one queen sized bed In the loft, one double fold-down futon couch and an extra double mattress that can be placed on the kitchen floor.  For larger groups, call to rent Hamlin, a charming Gypsy wagon Tiny House that sleeps two.  Still more?  Bring your own tents and set up a campground.  Add additional people with additional tents for a modest fee of only $10/person/night. If you are bringing pets, just include them in your reservation as additional guests to cover the pet fee.   Nearby is another campsite centered around a large, well-furnished outdoor kitchen.  That site also includes Yurtle, (a trampoline-based tent with a hard dome roof and incredible acoustics).  But the key feature of this campsite is the kitchen, with yurtle and other amenities as added perq’s.  The Outdoor Kitchen is a must for really large groups like family reunions. The base rate for the kitchen + Yurtle covers two people.  Add $10/person/night for additional campers (including kids and dogs.)  If you have more than eight in your group, you should absolutely book the kitchen site.  It will make a huge difference in the quality of your camping experience. The Spacious outdoor covered kitchen includes a stainless 3-compartment sink with hot water, large propane grill, 3-burner propane stove and griddle, three picnic tables, and waterproof storage under roof. Chill to the soothing sounds of falling water in this magnificent glamping tent, equipped with a fireplace and perched on the bluff above our private 50-foot waterfall.  Disclaimer: The flow of the waterfall is subject to fluctuations in temperature, seasonal droughts and rain fall. All the furnishings are uniquely custom built.  Two porches (front and back).  the back one hangs over the cliff with a view of the falls and cascades below. A custom rocket stove that will handle anything from hot chocolate to pancakes to bacon to steaks or charbroiled burgers is just outside the front porch. Hike below Miller Falls to a second waterfall, called Swallow-Tail Falls, then continue to the bottom of our private canyon where the forest is pristine and untraveled except by you and the cave is yet to be fully explored. This was an excellent trip! The Beech Treehouse is amazing and picturesque. My kids enjoyed hiking the waterfall, climbing rocks, and catching crawdads. The fairy garden was spectacular and we actually did see several fairies! We went to the Fiery Gizzard trail and swam in two other waterfall swimming holes. What a treat!

Grant and Becky were the best hosts we could have met. We spent our honeymoon/bachelor/bachelorette trip at the treetop tent, and fell in love with the whimsy, wonder, and wiles of Sewannee Creek. The tree tent site was really cool. Would have been a lot of fun with a group of people for sure. The ride over was bumpy and rocky by my dodge challenger made it so most cars should be able to get there. Grant was very nice and hospitable. The waterfall was really cool, didn’t expect it to be so big when it wasn’t that far away. I’d suggest bringing as many blankets and pillows as you can to make the tent as comfortable as possible.

What a magical place! The fairy trees and the falls is simple majestic. The sunset out in the primitive spot was fantastic. I really want to come back, stay a few more nights, and explore all this area has to offer! My dog fully enjoyed the freedom and I can’t recommend it more! Some of the info you get on the Hipcamp website varies a little bit from the email message (check in time… pet fees) but Grant was so helpful and accommodating and a great communicator! I can’t wait to come back and try the metal work class!

We stayed here with a group of 13 and had an incredible experience! The campsite is well-equipped and thoughtfully laid out—our favorite part was the covered kitchen area with plenty of seating, which made meals together easy and fun, even with a large group. There’s a beautiful waterfall just a short walk away, and the meditation yurt was such a peaceful, unique touch that made the whole stay feel even more special. The hosts were super friendly and incredibly responsive, which made coordinating everything a breeze. Highly recommend this spot for group getaways, retreats, or anyone looking to connect with nature while still having great amenities.

We loved our stay! We had a lot of unexpected rain during our stay, but hanging out in the Yurtle was so fun! The property provided ample space to explore and the outdoor shower was wonderful! We will definitely stay again when in the area.

Dreamy place. The waterfall lulled us to sleep every night. Our dwelling, The Beech Tree House, was a hand built repurposed tree house with all the comforts of home. We saw wildflowers, wildlife and Luna moths… and rumor has it there are fairies living there too!

Me and my son had so much fun on this trip. It was a little cold but we made it through. And we enjoyed cooking out over the charcoal/wood grill. And an amazing view of the water fall near by. We loved are stay and would come back again. Thank you for the stay Grant.

Fairy Woodland Primitive Camping
This was our second time staying on Grants beautiful property in the mountains of Tracy city! It seems to get better every time we visit. We brought our 8 month old son, Arlo, and it was his very first camping trip!! Grant and his wife are such genuine and kind people, they truly go out of their way to make your experience special and memorable. The property could be a state park itself, we spent several hours exploring the mountainside and admiring Miller Falls. Our campsite was huge, clean, and perfectly situated to view the sunset. This won’t be our last time camping on Grants property, and we so look forward to returning!

Super good hosts. Loved the kitchen for sitting around and having meals together. Came primarily to hike the nearby “Fiery Gizzard” trail from end to end. Plenty of room for several tents. The waterfall close by on the property was a plus.

Becky and Grant have a beautiful piece of land and are incredible hosts. They truly want you to have the best time on their property and are there to help you with anything you could want/need. It’s obvious they genuinely love the company of others and that they enjoy sharing their land for others to enjoy. Words simply cannot do this place justice and we loved exploring it. Our stay was short, but our experience was great! We stayed in the Beech Treehouse where we were very cozy sleeping through a thunderstorm. The waterfall sang to us all night and was a spectacular sight in the morning. Around the treehouse grounds we enjoyed seeing toads, turtles, squirrels and birds, birds, birds. The treehouse itself is well appointed and the hospitality of hosts Grant and Becky made our little overnight a joy.

Fairy Woodland Primitive Camping
This is a great camping spot! We chose the primitive camping site and it was exactly what we wanted. Private, far from other guests, and plenty of room to roam and explore. I was a little worried about the road accessing the site, but we made it in a fairly low cross-over SUV without any problems (in dry weather). The property is amazing and has an easily accessible waterfall that rivals many state parks! Grant is a great host and welcomed us on arrival, showed us to our site, and told us about the property and the area. Great communication throughout booking, checking if everything was okay, and on checkout. I definitely expect we will be back soon!

Treehouse Campsite
We had an amazing time in the Beech Treehouse! Becky checked us in and showed us around + gave us an overview of the trails. Their private waterfall was beautiful, and we loved exploring the stream with our dogs. The porch built into the treehouse was such a serene spot to have our morning coffee and evening dinners. Cosy bed, well-stocked camp kitchen, clean hot shower, this really is "glamping" at it's core! Nice that there is a grocer about 9 min away for anything we forgot. And a few more restaurants in Monteagle about 20 min away, even more if you go to sewanee. 10/10 and will definitely return!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

My partner and I loved camping on Grant and Becky's land in the Trampease Tree tent this past weekend. You could tell they really put a lot of thought into this setup as it had everything that we needed. Grant and Becky met us once we arrived and showed us where our site was and the different paths to take to check out the land. They encouraged us to hike their property and we saw so many beautiful sights and sounds. They have so much to explore on their land that my partner and I already want to go back! This was my first time booking thru Hipcamp and I have already told all of my friends to check it out! Stay with Grant and Becky, you will not be disappointed- trust me!!

Treetent Campsite
So lovely! Grant has done just a nice job of creating magical settings on his land. We stayed in the tree tent and were impressed by how level and dry and sturdy it was. We loved having the creek wrap around the site and very short walk to the waterfall! We found MANY toads on our night walks to the fairy houses. Lots of fun!

Both me and my lover enjoyed our stay out here!! ( The Treehouse) had Such breathtaking scenery and the atmosphere was amazing. Grant and Becky were super helpful and the absolute sweetest!! If you love the outdoors this is a great stay for you!! So many places to hike along the property and both of the waterfalls were astonishing!! Definitely recommend staying here!! We will be back for sure☺️💗

I loved the trampoline tree-tent! When I arrived, the site was clean and peaceful. The host was very friendly, showed me to the site, and offered recommendations on hiking on the property and restaurant options. The site itself was not far from the others or main house, but felt peaceful and private. I brought my dog, who enjoyed the privacy and the beautiful creek that was steps away from the campsite. The amenities offered are wonderful: great hiking and views on the property, a grate for the fire and several lighting options, the tree tent itself is clean and comfortable, the host offers several opportunities to join in art classes, and the bundle of firewood was available on arrival. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this site to anyone. I felt safe and comfortable during my stay.
