A good river campsite near Caverns
A quaint spot by the river, follow the map to get to the spot. You may be greeted by an orange cat. He is chill. A nice spot with electricity and a small river running through. Clean showers and bathrooms!

First time at SR, but will return
We booked 17-18 for Fri-Sun nights thru Hipcamp. When we arrived someone was very well established across both sites and had booked thru other means apparently. We told the good folks at SR and they had a less desirable spot available that wasn’t a numbered site. We felt it would work since the place was packed for Mem. Day weekend. It was adjacent to the little playground area. Not our cup of tea as the large group on the other side of the playground were loud with (kindly putting it) really loud little ones. But, they’re kids and playing long & loud outside is what kids should do. Shared space means shared sound. The view of the river was okay and we were very close to the kayak put-in point. Big plus. The SR-to-VFW ramp ride is super fun and workable for practically all skill levels. Very nice weather. Certainly plan to return for another weekend or maybe just a day trip for the longer run. Nice people run the place. Book through their website.

Camping with a toddler.
We loved tent camping on Micky’s land. Even as a holiday weekend and busy, everyone was so pleasant and helpful. We went with our 2 year old boy and he had a blast.

Tent camping spots along river
My girlfriend and I tent camped there along side the river and it was really beautiful waking up to the flowers and flowing river first thing in the morning. The site had a fire ring and the grass seems to be maintained so you don't have to worry about tics. The only downside is that we were right next to a public park that had their huge flood lights on all night so it wasn't very dark and you could hear people yelling, playing basketball and playing music until about 11pm there. Also the port-a-potty was on the complete other end of the camp which wasn't ideal for the lady. However we made do and had a wonderful time. I'd definitely recommend it to my friends and plan on going back for another hike in the Cumberland Caverns down the road AND hope to do the smooth rapids kayaking next time (we couldn't kayak because the river was too high).
