Not many people can claim that they live on their Great , Great , Grandfathers settlement farm. This farm belonged to Spencer Walker my g , g, grand father. His occupation listed in the 1870 census was a whiskey maker. The whiskey was made at the lower spring where the log cabin was located. The log cabin burned in 1953 and was replaced by the yellow farm house on the property. The family grave yard has all of the farming Walkers born in the 1800's, g.g. grandfather Spencer and Shady Walker, great grandfather Thomas and Sallie Walker and my Uncle Bud and Aunt Ann Walker. The barn on the farm is an old Tobacco barn for drying of the green Tobacco leaves. Learn more about this land:      If you want to reconnect with nature and do not desire the crowded foot print sized site camping , you will enjoy the secluded private, but conveniently located 75 acre Walker Farm. Shaggy Bark Camping
Nobody was there to show me campsit
I arrived at the address at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon on the day I was to camp. I followed the hosts instructions on how to get there and drive to the end of the driveway where he would meet me to show me to my campsite. He wasn’t there. I tried calling the number provided but there was no cell service. I knocked on the house door and walked around a bit. No one was there. Nobody answered the door or showed up so I left. $30 down the drain and no place to stay!

The stars🤩🤩
There may not have been a bathroom, but if you’re looking for a nice spot, secluded enough to feel like you’re all alone… this is it! the only sounds were the bugs and owls😁 and the sky was PHENOMENAL!

See the stars
Make sure you contact Richard before you arrive, cell phone reception is sketchy at best. The site was great, flat, and very quiet

Shaggy Bark Camping
Not as described otherwise lovely
We ended up not staying at our site because we were unprepared as the description was inaccurate. This is a primitive camping site, & there aren’t any showers or bathrooms! Which is completely fine, but the description says otherwise.

Shaggy Bark Camping
The place was great. The people we met were nice, cordial and very helpful. The location we camped was private and peaceful. The only downside was that the listing had not been updated and there are no bathroom or shower facilities at this time. The space that had been dedicated to said facilities are no longer an option. Richard stated that plans are in place to install those facilities in another location.

Shaggy Bark Camping
The location was beautiful and a short drive from swimming and hikes. It was very private. It was a bit confusing because we never heard from our host nor had communication with him. There were grounds keepers who were great and helpful. But the site was not as advertised. There are not toilets or showers. This was a disappointment for us as it was listed that this was available. So it was quite expensive for not having amenities. Wood for fires was provided. That was very nice.
