This was our first time ever doing this, and it was beyond our expectations!! The hosts were the most down to earth, helpful, incredible people I have encountered in a very long time. They were extremely helpful with anything we needed at all. The land is well kept and very beautiful, with the mountains right near by. We bought some dogs treats and fresh bacon for an amazing price with an even better taste. Our dogs devoured the fresh treats and we have already devoured the 2lbs of rosemary garlic peppercorn bacon! I can not wait to come back here! It was an incredible experience to share with our pups too. They have very well trained animals on the land with gorgeous hiking paths near by too. Great way to get out of the city life and just get some well needed rest/peace and quiet. Highly recommend this to anyone who is considering staying here.
**DISCLAIMER: This review ran on the long side but its pretty to point without fluff.. except in regards to our dogs who are briefly mentioned**
My wife, two dogs, and I had never used HipCamp before staying at III:Three Rivers Farm & Retreat. All of the state parks at the time required a two night min. and we only had the weekend to get out of the city. I wouldn't say we are the most experienced campers but we own gear and get out as often as we can. This is to say that when we came upon HipCamp, we did have some reservations: who are the people that are hosting us? will they be cool? will it be awkward staying on private land? is our site going to be too close to other campers? I think these are all pretty reasonable questions to ask if you are new to this. I'll keep our story short... Lets start with the WHO..
Justin and Jenna are an AMAZING young couple who run a farm in Old Fort, TN (just a hair north of the GA border.) They are obviously outdoors people and understand that camping can be, among other things, a solitary venture; Justin and Jenna made sure the camping sites they list are a good distance away from each other. And, I will add that each site is very different from the next. I would recommend browsing their page and checking out each because you won't find options like this at the usual state park.
We stayed at the shipping container site and really enjoyed it! It was basically like having a "back porch" to your camp site where during the evening you can kick back with a glass of wine or in the morning have a little piece of home while you are having your coffee and breakfast. Remember I said each site is different and this one offers a hybrid camping experience where you get the same campsite you'd expect from just about any place, all with a little homestyle convenience that isn't too much and definitely unique. As expected, this site was also extremely clean and comfortable.
And what's more is that for car campers, this is perfect as there is plenty of room for your vehicle and keeping all your food, clothing, etc. close as possible.
One last but pretty important thing: everyone raise your hand if using the vaulted toilets typical to a lot of campgrounds is your favorite thing? I'm not saying they are terrible but sometimes you just don't know what you might get (i.e. Bees, poop on the walls... Yes, we've encountered both.) Well, at III:Three Rivers Farm & Retreat they skipped the vaulted toilets and made it pretty simple: a well placed bathroom with a shower on the property that is just as private and cozy as the one you left back at home. And yes: it is super clean!
Looking back on our experience, I would say that without a doubt there was nothing less different about camping here than at any other place we've been (Land Between the Lakes(KY), Lake Laurleen(AL) Blue RIdge(GA) Mark Twain Nat'l Forrest(MO), to offer contrast).
Summary:
1) Were the hosts friendly, helpful, and approachable: Yes
2) Was there plenty of space between campsites: Definitely
3) Was it weird staying on private land: No, actually it was a lot of fun.
4) Will be be going back: Absolutely!

Oh my heart, thank you for this review Kyle! It was so lovely meeting you guys. We appreciate this thorough review & appreciate the time you spent to write it. We cannot wait to see you guys again!!
We had such an amazing time at this beautiful Hideaway spot on the Three Rivers Farm that felt like a private wilderness getaway. Plenty of room for lots of tents to be spaced out as well as a great fire pit under the openness of the stars and a picnic table and fire grill for fun food prepping and campfire food experience. The site is also beautifully shaded and was kept cool even in hot summer weather. It feels very private but is just a short walk to the communal kitchen and shower house and we also enjoyed a walk up to the ridge to catch an amazing sunset! Lots to do and enjoy here without leaving the property! Definitely would love to revisit!

It was so lovely hosting you and your group of nature lovers Nikki, we hope to see you guys back on the farm in the future!
