Heartstone Campground is really a special place. We met Mandy and Dan very quickly after arriving; it was their busiest weekend yet and they were shuffling people around to accommodate their wishes. A larger group wanted the place we'd originally booked and because we wanted a more private experience, Mandy and Dan were quick to set us up with the perfect site, right next to a creek with plenty of shade. We did some hiking, which was mostly uphill and there were no trails-- fun little adventure. There are a lot of little touches throughout the campground that really add to the experience -- picnic benches and swings, etc. The "Pit Palace" stands up to its name in that its super clean and stocked with all your essentials; there's even a shower area that you can use your solar shower bag in. Anyways, you can tell the campground is a labor of love. You can also walk in the creek bed and it was great to be able to dip your toes in the water to cool down. But be ye warned: we did spot snakes in the creek, which is always a risk when outdoors. They got away from us as quickly as we did them, so just be alert and you'll more than likely be fine. Clear nights lent to great stargazing and the meadow was illuminated so brightly a flashlight wasn't really necessary. Totally worth the 2 hour drive-- thanks Mandy and Dan, we loved it!

Really enjoyed my stay at the campground. Nice facilities, great to have a picnic table and fire pit with firewood, and easy to get to while still being far away from city noise or lights.

Dan and Mandy were incredible hosts. Their property, kindness, organization was above and beyond my expectations. You'll have an excellent view of the stars, so quiet at night. If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature this is your place.

Dan and Mandy were absolutely amazing!! They were so nice and helpful and even brought us some farm fresh eggs from their chickens when we first met them. Besides their genuine warm hospitality, the property was beautiful! Our site was right near a natural spring creek with wooded areas around. The night stars were absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed ourselves so much and really appreciate what Dan and Mandy are offering people. We definitely plan on coming back!

This was our first time and we have found our go-to campground. The grounds were kept really well and Dan & Mandy were more than happy to help with anything we asked!
The creek that ran through was awesome! It kept our three kids occupied for most of the weekend we were there. The outhouse was the nicest I have ever seen, and had the pleasure to use!!! I had an idea of what this outhouse was going to be like, and I was completely wrong! It’s too nice to call an outhouse actually. It was nicer and cleaner than every state park we have stayed.
The campground is perfect! I can’t wait until we go back and to see the next part they open!

Campsite sat on a beautiful piece of land with a peaceful stream about 20 feet away from where we put our tents. The drive once on property is pretty hilly, and we were thankful to be driving a truck with four wheel drive! The owners are very kind people, and the fresh eggs were a very nice touch! The bathrooms are well kept, and have toilet paper/baby wipes in the stalls. We only stayed one night, and I never got a good view of the shower stalls. There’s a piggly wiggly about 20 minutes away from the campsite so don’t worry if you forgot hotdog buns like we did!
Overall this was a great experience, and I would definitely come again!

Dogs loved chasing the ball out here! View from my tentThe stream sits just behind the trees!

Mandy and Dan truly have done an amazing job with this private campground. It was so great being away in the woods near a creek for the weekend. The campground was dog friendly and our Siberian husky loved it!
