Secluded camping on an amazing farm
My wife and I camped at Ficken Farm for a couple days and it was amazing. The owner, Jack, was very polite and laid back. The land is very well taken care of and the seclusion of the campsite was exactly what we hoped for. The lake is so well stocked with fish that we caught something probably 9 out of every 10 casts! I highly recommend going here if you want a secluded camping experience. We will definitely be returning!
Beautiful views, swimming, fishing
Very private. Swam fished and floated on the lake (gigantic pond). Beautiful view overlooking the lake. Built our own fire. Just a really amazing experience. Jack the host was very nice and helpful. He even texted once during our stay to make sure everything was going okay. He's very laid back.
Perfect! exceeded expectations!
We loved staying on Jack's farm. The campsite has a concrete slab with a pole with some outlets. We brought a box fan that saved our lives in the August heat. Jack even has a little boat you can use to row on the private lake. Fishing, hiking and privacy. Jack was a great host who called to talk us through very speciic directions to the site, provided us with a map of trails and checked in just to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I cannot wait to stay at Ficken Farms again!
Wonderful and beautiful place!
A group of friends and I went to camp here, and it was a lot of fun! The instructions were clear, firewood was provided, water and electricity if needed. We really enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the lake! And it was just a great spot to camp, swim, and relax. Overall, I really would recommend it and I would go back myself.
However, we went hiking for about an hour or so and here are just some thoughts to consider regarding hiking but also the place as a whole. 1) we got so many tiny little ticks that took us a long time to take off. I easily took off about 50 off me and one of my friends had probably even more than me. 2) many of us are now realizing we have chigger bites all over our legs. I counted about 100 over my whole body. 3) we brought our dogs with us and they also got ticks, even the ones that didn’t hike, just roaming the campsite. So now that’s a pain to try and take them off the dogs as well 4) during our hike, we did come in very close contact with a copper head. One of our people was half a step away from stepping right on it, and our dogs were super near it as they were walking with us.
I realize these kind of things are somewhat expected with camping, but I kind of wish we would’ve been given some sort of heads up haha. We’re not upset or anything, just reflection in hindsight. If we were to go back, I honestly would just not hike so as to not to risk it. And i probably wouldn’t bring my dogs even just to the campsite so that they don’t pick up ticks as they roam around.
Just some things to think about! But honestly, it was a great experience and I would still come back!
Loved camping on the water
The campsite on the water was awesome. The concrete pad provided a nice place to set up a canopy and stay out of the mud when it rained. The pond was stocked with fish. I would recommend this campsite to anyone.
Relaxing private fishing spot
We spent two nights at Ficken Farm and are already making plans to come back. Jack was super nice and sent us a couple texts to make sure everything was good. Amazing pond for catch and release fun (tons of bass and sunfish in it). We tent camped and had access to power and a water outlet with a hose. It has a nice large concrete pad to setup cooking area. We will come back in the summer with kayaks and tubes.
