We were a bit skeptical pulling up, but went in with open minds and ended up having a good visit. Due to our travel schedule, we got in after dark; this is definitely not advised. The map embedded on HipCamp was not accurate- use the address listed instead. The fenced in area was great for our pup to run around after a long drive and Abby the donkey was a gem!
The fenced area was not private; it was between the host’s house and the neighbors. Other campers may be in the same area. The fire pit was lovely to sit around since it was COLD!! 🥶 But there were also options of you wanted a more private area. We were supposed to go to them but opted to stay in the fenced area so our dog could play.
***Be aware: cell service is spotty!
If passing through the Gatlinburg area we might stay here again, but would likely chose a different HipCamp for a new experience - and that has nothing to do with Kimber or the property.

I booked this site for my kiddos, my daughter Abby LOVED camping with Abby the donkey. This was a bit more residential than the hike ins I’m used to. But it was great, I have no complaints. The views were great, access to everything local was a great central spot, and having a toilet was a huge bonus! Kimber was communicative. There’s two options, a fenced in field with space from the horses annd so key and the open pasture. We stayed in the pasture for my kids. And if you’re looking for animal interaction, I highly recommend it. But better plan on giving them attention and marshmallows. Abby the donkey will demand attention, she doesn’t care if you're trying to look up gps coordinates while you have service or not. She will come pick on you until you pet her. We highly recommend this great and fun spot!

Camping with animals!
Host was very friendly and easy going. If you go for the firewood option you get your money's worth, whole wheelbarrow full. Views from the property to the mountains are just absolutely stunning even in the nighttime you can see it for pretty much 360°. About 20 minutes for the falls or Townsend but there is a small entrance 2 miles from her property. There are 2 horses and a donkey that roam and are just as hospitable and friendly! Bathroom and shower in the basement of her home and completely separate for hipcampers. Would definitely camp there again for just how close it is.

Good location
If you and/or people in your crew like to be up close and personal with animals, this is a treat. The donkey and horses love people. Kimber was clear and timely with communication. No feedback about WiFi. I didn’t inquire since I only stayed one night. This campsite can be hit or miss depending on the kind of person you are. If you’re a go with the flow kinda person/people, not picky, this Hipcamp can work for you. The location is great if you wanna be close to Cade’s Cove and Pigeon Forge.
