I’m not one to write reviews, but it was our first time using this website and it seemed sketchy to us at first. We saw one review and decided to go for it. Don was fantastic. He asked multiple times if we were comfortable. Even offered to weed eat if we wanted since we didn’t bring one. Definitely bring bug spray because it’s right on the water. Directions brought us right to the gate. Recommend taking a truck if it’s rained heavily; but a car would work if it’s not too muddy. Overall a great trip. Don is the man.
This is a great adventure
It was awesome and so peaceful sitting by the river. Blue herons were flying by and watching the boats and sometimes a barge pass by was fun. We walked over to the bay side and saw deer and turkeys. Butterfly everywhere and at night the stars were nothing I have ever seen...so many and so clear. Loved it!
Beautiful setting right on the wate
First of all, what a beautiful area and Don was a fantastic host. Met us at the gate to make sure we were at the right place, let us know where others were so we could choose our spot near or far from others. The sites are great but we were glad we drove our 4wheel drive because of the rain we had it was muddy and messy to get back to the sites. Bring a weed eater so you can clean up the areas you want to utilize. It is primitive camping, no electric, or porta pots.... which is what we wanted when booking. We loved it and will definitely book again! Thanks Don!
I can't speak to the site itself.. we couldn't get through all of the flooding on the road in my Nissan Xterra. Although Don was very friendly his helper showed up in a Confederate Flag shirt, we did not appreciate that.
Maybe on another day this would've been a great trip, but unfortunately it was not for us.
Had the best time staying here. Our site was shaded most of the day and the breeze of the river kept us cool which is nice in a Tennessee summer. Didn’t see any trash (yay I love seeing clean camps) and my dog loved hoping in the river to swim. It started raining pretty bad our last night but we were still able to manage the dirt roads back out no problem with 4wheel drive
Serenity w/a little adventure
This was a beautiful secluded spot with just a touch of adventure. If you’ve got a Jeep or other 4wd vehicle this is actually a huge plus. Smaller cars will manage but may need to proceed with caution. The site and the lake were stunning as were the fields that run behind the campsite. Lots of bass were jumping but none liked what I had on the menu for them. Bring your bug spray.
Nice quiet stay on the creek
The turn in was not obvious and the gate was locked but Don responded right away and his son came to unlock it and then lead us to the camping spots. The spot was private and very pretty!
