Plenty Star Ranch in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota is private homestead of Jack and Isa Kirk and located right along Hwy 385 (West side) and the 110 miles long Mickelson Trail from Deadwood to Edgemont between mile marker 34 and 35 , 9.5 miles South of Custer and Custer State Park, 50 miles South of Rapid City (airport) and approximately 80 miles South of Sturgis, we are a popular stopover for bikers and hikers, who either pitch a tent, hook up their RV or sleep in our rustic camping log cabin and now also at our remote Glamping Site.
A couple of ponds occupied by our resident Canada Geese border our short and easy accessible black top driveway off Hwy 385. You will see several huge old willow trees in front of which the 3 full hook-ups and the dump station are located; easy in and out grass sites with 20, 30, 50 amp outlets, (drinking) water and sewer. And then there is one more hook-up next to the garage, just in case an extra one is needed.
During the summer months there is a little building usable with solar camping shower bags. We have a few here you are welcome to use
Dumping of any waste and grey water from holding tanks into the on site dump station only.
The toilet room (flush toilet and cold water sink) is added onto the garage and open 24/7.
Sit around our approved camp fire site in the evenings and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on our porch in the morning. You can use our WiFi here as well and charge your cell phones and tablets. Note: AT&T Cell Service only at and for a few miles around our place, more options in Custer and Hot Springs. Please, supply your own fire wood or ask Jack if he has any extra at and for a fee.
Sorry, no pets
We enjoy to keep our peaceful place clean, as well as smoke and drug free and we hope you appreciate this as much as we do.
Check-in time is between 6 pm and 9 pm at our home. We will ask you to sign our short liability release form before we show you where to park your camper.
Our RV camp sites are open from May through September, maybe October if the weather permits.
Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain are just a couple of numerous attraction you can explore throughout the Black Hills. On your way to Hot Springs (24 miles South) you drive through Wind Cave National Park. It is definitely hard to get bored here and the weather is fairly mild, stable and mostly dry from June through September.
While at the ranch, explore Jack's Custom Barn Wood Frames & Furniture shop and Isa's paintings and Black Hills Flower Essences products or if you are so inclined, plan in a little time for an intuitive Tarot reading (look for the coupon in your Welcome Bag) or an Essential Touch healing with her.

Our stay was awesome!! Perfect scenery! Enjoyed seeing the deers around at early evening! Very clean! Friendly host! New experience for us to have a shower with heated water by solar. About 30 min to Mt. Rushmore, else. Would come back in the future! God Bless!
Inspirational & peaceful nature!
It was lovely in every way! We parked the travel trailer in a green meadow and took naps under the HUGE Willow trees with the sweet creek passing behind us! Picnic dinner and than a beautiful walk up a Forest Service road near the ranch complete with Pine and Aspen trees, huge rock walls, White Tailed Deer and much more.
In the morning we were invited to join our hosts, Isa and Jack for coffee and conversation! Great people and artists! (Had to buy some beautiful and spiritual things!)
A lovely peaceful place to stay
The Ranch is beautiful with easy access close to the road with the Michelson bike , hiking trail right there!
There are beautiful huge willow trees and picnic benches in the shade with a creek running through the property.
The owners invite you up each morning for complimentary
tea or coffee and are charming folks happy to help with your sightseeing questions. Isa greeted us and helped us back into our RV hookups. You can hike up their ranch road to their upper pastures and it is beautiful and quiet.
An added bonus is a flock of wild turkeys come by for a little grain everyday and the next door neighbor raises buffalo .
Four friendly cats are out and about patrolling the property and keeping watch over the flower and vegetable gardens.
Plenty Star was a good base for Custer and Wind
Caves. The RV hook ups were perfect. The road noise is noticeable, but it didn't bother us in our trailer. Thanks for a lovely stay.
