Plenty Star Ranch, a Nature Retreat in the Southern Black Hills and the private home of Jack and Isa Kirk, located right along Hwy 385, 9.5 miles South of Custer, SD or 2 miles North of Pringle, SD and the 110 miles long Mickelson Trail from Deadwood to Edgemont (mile marker 34/35).

We cater to adult guests (children over the age of 12), seeking solitude and peace in Black Hills' amazing nature, spending a few nights or more at our beautiful place in the Southern Black Hills of SD.

9.5 miles South of Custer, and close to all the major attractions in the Black Hills, like Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain, we are a popular stopover for bikers and hikers, pitching a tent, hooking up their RV (3 full with E/W/S or 3 partial with E/W and dump station use). Sleep comfortably in our Lakota style tipi with 3 comfortable single cots with pads.or in one of our 2 rustic 1-bedroom home/hand-built camping log cabins. Cabin 1 features a double and a single bed; Cabin 2 has two double and one single bed.The cabins have always fresh linens and towels. So, please, sleep between the sheets, not on top.

We also feature a small but rustic primitive bedroom cabin / campsite with its own campfire pit, camping loo hut and solar shower tent on a very secluded, breathtakingly beautiful piece of private land without any other campers or noise, surrounded only by 100% National Forest, 1.5 miles along a maintained gravel Forest Service Road from the main ranch  - "Wilderness Glamping" at its finest!

At the main ranch there is a restroom attached to our garage with a toilet and cold water sink for all camping guests about 50 yards from the cabins, as well as a building with 2 rooms to be used with solar camping shower bags, conveniently located next to the cabins. Please, bring your own solar camping shower bags. There is a picture of the best bags we found. I have a few here which I can fill with hot tap water in a pinch (7 – 10 am, 4 – 8 pm)

All hydrants are connected to our well, providing great drinking water (tested regularly)

Graveled parking space is available in front or next to the cabins and tipi and along the low fences for tent campers

There is also an approved campfire pit. Off the ground grills are allowed, no other fires close to the ground. Please, bring your own firewood. You will find plenty at local gas stations and grocery stores

Check-in time is between 4 pm and 9 pm at our home. Exception are made for the log cabin No 1 and No 2 as well as the tipi, since later arrivals for these can easily find their own way to their lodgings. We will leave the light on outside and the door unlocked at the cabins. There is also always a light shining on the restroom at the garage which you drive by on your way to the tipi.

We are open May through September, weather permitting April and October.

Sit around our approved camp fire site in the evenings and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on our porch in the morning. Grab some fruit or oatmeal to tidy you over for the start of your day.

You can use our guest WiFi here as well. It reaches throughout the campground. However, the only cell service for a few miles around the ranch is AT&T.

We enjoy to keep our peaceful place clean, as well as smoke and drug free and I hope you respect and appreciate this as much as we do.

Sorry, no guest pets.

While at the ranch, explore Jack's Custom Barn Wood Frames & Furniture shop and Isa’s art work and Black Hills Flower Essences products or if you are so inclined, plan in a little time for an intuitive Tarot Reading with me – you might just, like so many before you over the last 3 decades, walk away amazed and inspired.

The wildlife was amazing! Noise from the highway was a little more than expected but it was a beautiful experience otherwise. Great RV hook ups!

Our stay was awesome!! Perfect scenery! Enjoyed seeing the deers around at early evening! Very clean! Friendly host! New experience for us to have a shower with heated water by solar. About 30 min to Mt. Rushmore, else. Would come back in the future! God Bless!

Beautiful view of stony mountain at sunset! Relax with dinner after our tour at Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse! Seeing animals like deers and bisons! Very nice place! Friendly guest!

It was lovely in every way! We parked the travel trailer in a green meadow and took naps under the HUGE Willow trees with the sweet creek passing behind us! Picnic dinner and than a beautiful walk up a Forest Service road near the ranch complete with Pine and Aspen trees, huge rock walls, White Tailed Deer and much more.
In the morning we were invited to join our hosts, Isa and Jack for coffee and conversation! Great people and artists! (Had to buy some beautiful and spiritual things!)
Thumbs up!!!

The Ranch is beautiful with easy access close to the road with the Michelson bike , hiking trail right there!
There are beautiful huge willow trees and picnic benches in the shade with a creek running through the property.
The owners invite you up each morning for complimentary
tea or coffee and are charming folks happy to help with your sightseeing questions. Isa greeted us and helped us back into our RV hookups. You can hike up their ranch road to their upper pastures and it is beautiful and quiet.
An added bonus is a flock of wild turkeys come by for a little grain everyday and the next door neighbor raises buffalo .
Four friendly cats are out and about patrolling the property and keeping watch over the flower and vegetable gardens.

Plenty Star was a good base for Custer and Wind
Caves. The RV hook ups were perfect. The road noise is noticeable, but it didn't bother us in our trailer. Thanks for a lovely stay.

This is a great camping site if you want to be close to Wind Cave National Park! You do have to share a fire pit and there is only one bathroom which is probably the only downside to this site. It is right off of the highway as well so if you really want to avoid any road noise this isn’t the best spot to pick.

Hipcamper James

As advertised. Good location, private, easy access. If you’ve got an RV and looking for full hookups and not in a large RV park, this is a great pick.
