Quick and easy communication from the host. Kids had a great time walking the area and fishing. Site was fairly level and had a nice pad set up for a tent and trees for a hammock. There are chickens and a rooste,r so just be aware if that's not your thing, but other than the rooster and I not agreeing on what time sunrise is they kept to themselves.
My kids and I had an amazing time! Our camp site was perfect and just as described. We had fun exploring the woods, catching frogs and walking in the creek. Alex was very prompt to answer our questions and give us any information we needed. We are definitely returning!!
Quiet and relaxing escape
I am so happy we went with Dockside and cannot wait to return! Despite being a short drive off the road, it feels very isolated and private. We didn't hear much of the "outside" world except the occasional dog bark or truck in the distance, but it was always muffled by the trees and faint. Mostly it was a lovely soundtrack of birds, bugs, and wind. There was no rooster or chickens as mentioned by some of the other posts, so I did a whole lot of napping.
Every so often we would hear fish hit the surface of the pond, or see a crane (I think) fly over. We did manage to reel in a nice size bass the second day we were there, and made friends with one of the turtles. I am happy to note the overall lack of mosquito swarms. There were a few, but they were not a persistent irritant after we lit a few bug-be-gone candles.
The firepit made cooking easy, and while the bathroom situation is not for the faint of heart, it definitely adds to the experience. The campsite is at a slight angle though and some of the pallet board walkways are starting to rot and may give underfoot, so be mindful of your step. I definitely recommend Dockside and its host, Alex. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful this piece of property is.
