The Barn Yard was a great spot to explore and learn about the art of farming in a sustainable manner. The hosts were extremely informative, and after a tour of the land I was much more educated on the functions and importance of sustainable farming. This area has three to four main locations for camping, but there are many available options to set up camp in the woods or along the trails. Complete with some friendly chickens and historical farm equipment, this place is ideal for a road trip to South Carolina.
Thomas was a gracious and accommodating host for the total solar eclipse. We camped by the large, shaded pond on a level spot and had a great deal of privacy, even during the totality of the eclipse. Our smallish pups loved being able to be off leash and enjoy the farm, especially playing in the pond. Since one of the homes on the farm isn't currently rented, he opened it up for eclipse guests to use the bathroom and kitchen if needed. Only regret is wishing we had more time to check out the rest of the farm!
I am beyond grateful to have found this listing on hip camp. Our stay here made the eclipse special. Tom was a lovely host and gave us a tour of the farm and was available to answer any and all questions. He was always there to ensure our stay was special. I was welcomed with open arms and big smiles and I will cherish my experience and new friendships from Modern Harvest Farms.
This stay is not for the high maintenance. I would compare this farm to an outdoor hostel camping experience but with the bonus of community bathroom and kitchen. You will need to bring your own amenities if you wish to cook, shower, etc. There are spots that are more secluded if you are not into socializing but I recommend getting to know the lovely people that stay at Modern Harvest Farms as they are the sweetest humans. There are small trails around the farm, interesting bugs and flowers, okra, chickens, a fire pit, and cool people and dogs.
I wish my friend and were able to stay longer but we will definitely be back soon.
Thanks for the good times.
