Welcome to Big Sister Bay Retreat! We are located in Marion County, 46 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, SC. Our homestead is positioned on the southern perimeter of a wetlands wildlife preserve. Enjoy a quiet, private camping experience immersed in nature. You may glimpse our resident heron on the pond or see turtles sunning themselves on the banks during the day. Feel free to bring your fishing tackle and reel 'em in like a pro on our pond stocked with brim, crappie and bass. Guests are welcome to use our rowboat. At night, relax and take in the night sky, which may be full of bright stars or lit up by a full moon. The night comes alive with sounds of frogs, possibly a hoot owl, and other nocturnal sounds of nature. Enjoy our campfire/grill pit on our "Fire Island", accessible via a quick rowboat ride. If you feel the need for a bit of civilization, we are situated between Marion and Mullins, both of which have quaint downtown main streets, where you can grab a sandwich, coffee or ice cream cone, or do some antique shopping, for which both towns are famous. We are also just 4.5 miles from the closest Walmart super center if you forgot any necessities...or breakfast bacon. The eggs you can get here, fresh from our free range, organically fed hens.

100/10. This place was amazing, so beautiful, right on the water. The hosts were all so friendly and great. They supplied us with jugs of water, hand sanitzer, firewood and a table /chairs. They had an outside tented toilet and a really cute canoe that we were able to take for a spin, towards a cute little island with a fire pit and chairs. My girlfriend and I and our pup very much enjoyed our stay here. Private and romantic, great nature experience. We all loved watching the frogs hop around on the water. and saw a firefly or two. Would definitely stay again. :)
Great place to escape with family for a private camping trip! Lots of room for our tents and other camping items. Well stocked pond to fish and our family loved the paddleboat to move around the pond. The hosts were warm and welcoming. Our family will definitely be returning! Thanks for a great retreat!

So glad your family enjoyed their time at Big Sister Bay. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for being such wonderful guests. We'd love to host you again anytime!
We had a fantastic stay! Kirby and Lisa are wonderful and helpful hosts. We arrived later than we expected, but they greeted us with a smile (while respecting social distancing) and showed us everything we needed to know. We were at Site 1, which had a picnic table, a firepit and wood, a camp toilet in a pop up shelter, a water barrel with spigot, hand soap and hand sanitizer, and a lovely view of the lake. We enjoyed taking the rowboat out to Fire Island, where there is a larger fire pit with a grate and plenty of firewood, to make meals and hang out. We also used the boat to fish for a while. One of us caught 10 fish in under an hour! Kirby and Lisa were easily reachable, and even helped us jump our truck when we accidentally left the door ajar. The cherry on top: Lisa dropped off a half dozen eggs from their chickens for us! Overall, this is a wonderful, lovely private retreat that will make you feel like you’re away from it all. We highly recommend you stay with Lisa and Kirby!!

Thank you! We were so glad to host you and so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to get some R&R! Thanks for being such great guests!!
Thank you to Liz and Kirby. You were so considerate as far as our COVID concerns since we were traveling to our elder parents. It was fun talking and hearing about the beautiful land and then waking up to the sit on the pond, the Spanish moss and a wonderful strolling path. We appreciate the hospitality: potable water, a privacy camping commode, offering to pick grapes from your garden, and offering coffee in the morning. Your friendliness to our dog too just topped it all off!

It was so nice to meet you all! We are happy we could provide you a safe place to rest on your journey!
Lisa and Kirby were awesome host! They Really want to make sure their guest are happy campers. They have an amazing and private property. The very large pond is beautiful and so much fun to explore and catching fish is pretty much a guarantee. Not only do they have a island with a fire pit you also have fire pit at your campsite right on the water they provide a camping toilet and tent which is really nice. They provided a bundle of fire wood and the site is loaded with more to forage. We didn’t venture far from the campsite except for on the pond but it looks like they have lots of area to explore. What a perfect way to spend a few days in the woods! Love it

Heather, thank you for choosing to stay with us and being great Hipcamp guests! We are so glad you enjoyed your camping experience at Big Sister Bay!
Kirby and Lisa were very welcoming and super nice! Pond was a great touch and we caught plenty of fish with the supplied john boat. Close proximity to a store if you need it. They provided plenty of firewood and had two separate camping toilets.
The site is quite close to the owners residence and a dirt road which had very minor traffic. Overall had a great time!
Beautiful, peaceful oasis! Lisa and Kirby were wonderful hosts and their place is magical. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a serene camp spot!
