Fairmead Farm is a secluded sanctuary on a 200-year old Appalachian farm. We’ve kept aesthetics and the historical appeal as our priority. We think it’s a beau-tee-ful cove. Creekside tent camping (Site #1), has a raised tent pad that will keep you as comfortable as the ground will allow, in the shade of our trees and between the hills. A roof-covering (Shed Site #2) provides the additional security if you want to avoid the prospects of inclimate weather. UNDER CONSTRUCTION: For those seeking the best of a glamping experience, a 20 X 30’ refurbished cabin on stone piers is scheduled to open for business in mid-summer 2020. No matter which site, we like the quiet this hollow affords. The first thing you'll notice when you step out of your car, is the solitude enhanced by a mountain ridge nearly all the way around the property. You can enjoy exposed rock boulders on our slopes. Access to public hiking trails on the ridge. From the ridge, you can almost touch Table Rock Mountain (State Park), Sassafras Mountain, Whiteside Mountain (Cashiers, NC) and beyond. Our farm residence (circa early 1900s) fades into the panorama tranquility will not intrude upon your camping sites. Enjoy our full-service bathroom with running water. Grocery store and hardware store just 10 minutes away is hard to believe.

The host, Brian, was very kind and accommodating. A small group of us were only there for one short night before a long trail run, but he offered to give us a shuttle ride if needed, and even brought coffee out to us in the morning.
The cabin is still under construction (July '19) but the primitive camp area he provided was excellent. There is water available, and a brand new bath house nearby with (unheated) shower. (cold showers are good for you)
My daughters and I had a great weekend stay here.
The area is not too remote to not hear people activity nearby during the day but still remote enough to not hear a thing but nature at night. Brian is as nice a guy as you'll ever meet and my girls absolutely loved his dog Sam.
Site #1 is a bit better as it's more open and right by a creek and closer to the bathroom but #2 has a small covered area. If you care about having a bathroom, it's a bit of a walk from site #2.
The farm has a couple of ridges to explore if you'd like and Brian can give you plenty of suggestions for local places to see/hike. We had the opportunity to spot a black bear while there (no worries about him coming down; he kept his distance).

Very nice place, love it and we will come back, nice welcome from Brian too.
Not so far from so many beautiful hike, lake …
Thanks
Brian was an excellent host and couldn't have been any nicer. His farm is safe, private and well kept. He took time to get me situated, helped me with power for my computer and phone. I recommend the stay.
Brian's property was beautiful and secluded. The bathroom in the woods was awesome and a total luxury. We enjoyed a quiet camping experience with our kids, and Brian was very friendly and helpful.
Feels very secluded and private even though you aren't that far from the city. We camped in a grove of poplars that provided all day shade to keep the tents cool. The adjacent creek provides a nice soundtrack for easy sleeping. Bath house is a few hundred yards away, but provides modern stylings and-more importantly-a hot water shower. Host will check in on you and chat as much as you like, or leave you be with your group.
Neat farm with a friendly cow and dog that the kids loved. Just enough wilderness to enjoy with a shower and flushing toilet (very nice) a short walk away.

Highly recommend! If a quiet and peaceful experience is what you're after, then this is your kind of place. Zero traffic noise, plenty of open space for stargazing as well as lots of great trees if you want to string up a hammock. There are also several hiking and swimming options nearby. Brian, the host, is very nice and helpful - we had a few good chats.
