The Bonfire Base camping area is located in Ellerbeck, in between Townsville and Cairns and close to Hinchinbrook Island. The campground is for self contained campers with their own toilet/shower facilities who must take all their waste and rubbish with them on departure. We are a dog friendly location so your pooch is welcome to join you. Please keep them restrained if they are not well trained. Campfires are welcome outside of restrictions in the areas provided for you. We are close to some great attractions, including the Spa Pools, Dead Horse Creek, and Attie Creek Falls. The property has a number of 4x4 tracks (Beginners to Advanced) available.

What a great spot. So close to the spa pools, Atti waterfall, Dead horse creek and Edmond Kennedy National park. We are Townsville "locals" and had never been to these beautiful attractions. Lovely grassed camping areas, surrounded by bush. Hosts were very accommodating too!

Off grid camping with pets.

Decided we needed to get away. Booked in at The Bonfire Base in Cardwell for Friday & Saturday night, gees this place doesn’t disappoint. The hosts met us and showed us to where we could camp. While we set up the camper they went off, got firewood and lit a campfire for us. Our dog loved playing with their dogs all weekend, he was so tired he rushed offf to bed last night. They are so close to the Cardwell Spa Pools, Dead Horse Creek & Attie Creek Falls. Highly recommend The Bonfire Base.

Uniquely enjoyable

Fantastic location, so close to the spa pool and only a short drive to Attie Ck Falls and Deadhorse Creek. Rayce and Lori are wonderful people, with Lori supplying us with banana and avocado on arrival. They have also put a lot of thought into outdoor toilet and shower setup. A really enjoyable camp for us.
