Open air shelter with utility sink, propane 2 burner cook stove, propane mini fridge, outdoor shower, tap of pure mountain spring water, sleeping platform (futon or sleeping pads available), hammock, fire pit ( with plenty of fire wood ) and adjacent state-of-the-art composting toilet. Amidst a managed tropical forest ( cacao, bananas, avocados, oranges, grapefruit, coffee, etc.) just above a pristine quebrada(river). Located in one of the last remaining truly campesino high mountain valleys, Caminos & Moradas was lovingly transformed from a small family coffee farm into an ecologically sustainable farm and retreat center. Adjacent to the Guilarte Forest Reserve, there are miles of trails and dozens of river pools/waterfalls to explore. All farm produce is grown organically and is available for sale when in season. As a retreat center, we offer guided yoga and meditation classes at the farm's open air Pavillon El Caney de La Paz. Or just laze and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Finca. For those wishing to sample the local campesino fare, our neighbor is available for catering. There is no island locale quite like Barreal. Just 45 minutes down the mountain you can explore the pristine beaches, and forests of the Guanica Dry Tropical Forest Reserve and then return for a cooling dip in the river. Please bring appropriate foot wear and rain gear as the trails can be tricky and there are occasional intense afternoon downpours. Because of altitude, there are virtually no mosquitos so repellent is not necessary.
