We had a great stay at the farm! Perfect spot to rest for the night if you are travelling through western PA and looking for an easy night. It's just a 5 minute drive off I-79, but far enough in the country to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Mendi is a very nice host and had everything set up for us. She greeted me and we had a nice long chat. There was a large stack of firewood waiting for me which was VERY nice as the temperature hovered around 30 degrees. There was an extension cord run down to the spot with 3 outlets. She also has running water available in the warmer months. She offered us farm fresh eggs for breakfast but unfortunately I had already loaded up at Walmart :(.
Mendi's farm has a long gravel driveway that splits off to a lower barn and her house. We camped in our cars down by the barn. There is a small patch of grass there if you didn't want to pitch a tent on the gravel. There is plenty of space for big rigs, however there is a slight ascent going up the driveway and the gravel is rather large. As long as you have a somewhat powerful vehicle you should be just fine.
The camp spot is right next to a pen with a horse and a steer. The steer was VERY friendly and kept us company all evening, not going more than 20 feet away from the fence. It was a very relaxing, safe, and nice night! Definitely recommend for a simple overnight on your journey.
Mendi was a great host, we had been driving for 16 hours and she was very flexible & understanding as our estimated arrival time kept getting pushed back. It was so nice to pull up to a safe place in the countryside after such a long day, she even had a fire set up for us! Her Steer was very friendly and sweet and kept us company as we enjoyed the fire!
The campaite was grwat and Mendi the hostess was wonderful. She was ready when we arrived with a fire foing, offered us electric hook ups and addidional firewood, ect. She even offered us trail rides in the AM. I'd book here again in a heartbeat.
Great spot will definitely be back.
The site was very easy to get to any vehicle should have no problem getting there, fire pit is good size and there is wood available on site. Hosts met once they got home and were very helpful with any possible problems. The cow and 3 goats kept us company into the night as well as the chickens and turkeys. Only warning is this is a farm and roosters crow at sunrise, otherwise highly recommend.
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon last minute and Mendi and her Husband were great hosts. It is a working farm so dont expect to sleep in because there are animals obviously. But that is not a bad thing. We didnt explore a whole lot but it is an amazing place and we will definitely be staying again.
Great--especially for animal lovers
My kids and I have stayed at a few Hipcamp sites and this one is by far our favorite. We have stayed there twice, once at their site by the animal barn and once up in the upper arena. Both sites were great. The site by the animal barn has easier car access, water, etc. But the site in the upper arena was extremely peaceful with a great view and my kids loved that a horse was roaming around in the field. Mendi said it was fine for us to feed the horse carrots, so we went into town and bought a bag. The kids loved it so much, we will definitely be back.
