Pitch your tent in the woods on our property. This sight is just north of the house and it’s quite large. It comes with its own picnic table and fire ring. The bathroom and shower are at your sight and fresh well water is a 1-2 minute walk away. There’s also a hammock strung up at this sight. You are on top of a hill and get to overlook the woods.

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time during our short two night stay. Eric and his family were very welcoming and helped us bring our things down to the campsite (a couple hundred feet away) by golf cart. We enjoyed the secluded nature of the site in the woods on their large property. Had fun roasting marshmallows over the fire at the fire ring next to our camp site and eating meals together at the picnic table. The private enclosed bathroom/shower tent with luggable loo toilet was perfect for our needs, though we didn’t use the shower, but appreciated the option. Enjoyed exploring the local parks at the Pinnacle Overlook (gorgeous view over the Susquehanna river) and Muddy Run. Fun to see so many friendly cats and a dog, too! Great camping location if you’re looking to visit the Lancaster area.
My friends and I had a wonderful time staying at The Secret Garden! You can’t really ask for a more perfect site. Lots of space to spread out, a toilet, fire pit, drinking water. Eric and Donna were really great hosts and made us feel very welcome. They also respected our privacy but were easy to reach if needed. Eric sent us directions to a local swimming hole and we had a blast. This was also my pup Waylon’s first time camping and it was the perfect site for him. He had plenty of room to run around and explore. I would highly recommend this site if you’re in the Lancaster area! Thanks again!
Secluded and restful.
Traveling across the nation we were looking for small campsites that were away from the hustle and bustle. We loved River Hills Hideaway. Eric and Donna provided a lovely spot in their woods. They set up a convenient toilet and sun shower tent that worked great. We had a picnic table, fire ring with plenty of wood and even a hammock. We survived a big thunderstorm nestled safely in the trees and emerged the next morning to a beautiful day. Amish country was about 30 minutes away and we had fun exploring that before returning for another (this time dry) night. There were traffic noises but they were minimal. Mostly we just enjoyed the birds.
The perfect peaceful hideway
The site was beautiful and clean. Plenty of firewood on site. The potty and sun shower worked very well. The hosts were gracious but respected our privacy. Thanks you for a peaceful weekend.
This is a great campsite with welcoming owners! Upon arrival we were offered delicious homemade root beer from their Amish neighbors ($3) and a list of local suggestions from river outfitters to hikes to ice cream shops. Our spot was up on a hill with a nice sunset view. The hosts provided supplies for the luggable loo including hand sanitizer, TP, and paper towels. The nearby city of Lancaster is great for art lovers and vintage shopping enthusiasts. If you want to boat on the Susquehanna or rent bikes, it's best to get to the outfitters early in the day or make a reservation.
