    Located just outside of Parker, PA and 25 minutes from I-80, our campsite is very accessible, yet still very remote. With 4 campsites on 75 acres, guests have ample privacy and space, with the freedom to roam this posted property that has no homes on it. Perched high above the Allegheny there are several spots to take in the wonderful views. There is also a waterfall with a 3’ deep pool below it. Great for splashing with kids or dogs, guests love exploring the creek bottom and making new discoveries. The more curious guests sometimes find the ruins of the original homestead, chimney and spring house that sit upstream. The property is teeming with wildlife. Birds and tree frogs will be the soundtrack of your visit, and often deer will be seen nosing along the outskirts of your site in the mornings and evenings. Turkey, bald eagles and even bear are occasionally spotted, so be prepared to secure your food and trash at night. For those coming to disconnect, you have found the right place. But if cell service is needed, you will have enough to get texts out and depending what site you booked, calls and internet as well. For those who seek an electrical outlet AND and EV charger, we have a site for you! We also have a site with a large canvas tent already set up for your convenience. Within a 15 minute drive of your campsite you can find The North Country Trail, Rails to Trails Trailheads and Boat Launches on the Allegheny River, Groceries, dining and beer. Note: Guests wanting The River Ridge site should book their weekends far in advance, or plan a trip during weekdays!

    This particular site is very open and accessible.  No 4WD needed, even after it rains.  There is a stone fire ring, a cooking grate, a picnic table, and room for plenty of vehicles and even a camper under 25’.  Be advised, the play equipment has been removed from this site. Room for numerous tents, yard games, and awnings.  A great view can be had from the site, but an even better view can be found a short walk away.  On property is a waterfall with a great swimming hole, 3.5 feet deep at its deepest point, great for adults, kids and pets alike.

    This is the host’s custom built site. This site is rented out only occasionally, or by special request to couples 30+ who want the premium experience. It is a large, level area with two picnic tables under a 10x14 gazebo. There are string lights hanging above the open area and inside the gazebo. The boulders bordering the site add tons of character to your stay. A smaller camper or a pop-up can be brought in. (Inquire with host about any trailers over 25’) Electricity is available on site, with 30amp and 50amp outlets. As one guest described this site: “This is the kind of camping we had in mind when we bought our camper several months ago. We finally decided the campsites we thought were out there just didn’t exist. Your place proved us wrong.”

    This site is an amazing pet-friendly stop for travelers on I-80! It has a picnic table, room for one or two tents, and a small area for a fire. This site can accommodate a small pop-up camper. Most importantly, and new for 2023 there is electricity to the site! Plug in coffee makers, lights, charge phones, EVs, (Yes, plug in your car!) and use any other device that requires an outlet. Also bring your pets and splash in the waterfall just down over the hill from your site! A welcome relief to weary travelers! On the short 25 minute trip between I-80 and your campsite you will also find: The Brew Haus brewery/restaurant, Little It Pizza, the Allegheny Grille, Welters Market (groceries), the Allegheny River, Dollar General! This site is a hidden oasis that will make you fall in love with Pennsylvania!

    **Be advised, this site no longer has the canvas tent** Tucked into a thick stand of pines, this site includes a large wooden platform for your tent/table setup and convenience. There is a fire ring, a picnic table and room for more tents and hammocks in all the little nooks around the edge of the site. This site is heavily wooded with a thick pine canopy, private and not within seeing distance of any other sites. We have only 4 sites over 75 acres so you’ll have freedom to roam around and enjoy yourself and the company of others.  Lots to discover on the property, including great views, a waterfall, wildlife and most of all peace and quiet. There are no homes on this property, you aren’t staying in someone’s back yard or business.

    The River Ridge site is flat, fully shaded and perched 400 feet above the Allegheny.  Guests are often stunned by the view when the arrive.  This site is worthy of being featured on a magazine cover.  It has been described by guests as "surreal", and "feeling like we are out west".  From this site guests have reported looking down upon soaring bald eagles.  During the week, guests have witnessed C-130 military aircraft running under-the-radar training missions through the river valley passing at eye-level extremely close to the site.  Depending on time of year and cloud cover guests occasionally get to witness the moon rise above the horizon on the opposite side of the river, something to truly be appreciated with the contrast and depth of the opposing mountainside.  With cell and internet service being perfect, guests will often book their next trip to the River Ridge before they have finished their first one.  Make your reservation now, and find your "Forever Campsite" at the River Ridge. During normal conditions access by vehicle is not a problem, however after very heavy rains it is possible that guest will have to park and take a short walk to their site. Very low sitting and 2WD vehicles are not recommended.

    We loved the River Ridge site for some private time away from the city. The sun rises on this site so be prepared for early mornings. It was amazing to wake up completely enveloped in cloud and then feel it get burned off with the sun. This site has the perfect balance of sun to dry off the tent in the early morning and then complete tree cover to shield from the midday heat. We saw a hawk, a falcon, a bald eagle and heard an owl at night… great spot for raptor enthusiasts. Some things to be mindful about: The very clean and well maintained compost toilets are quite far down the hill so you may want to be prepared with your own or a trowel (please know proper cathole guidelines!). Also, this site is 4 wheel drive accessible only, but note that it may become impassable with heavier rains so be prepared to park your vehicle below and hike uphill with gear. Chris is an excellent host and was quick to answer any questions. We also feel it’s worth noting that every site on Chris’s property is awesome and each have their own perks depending on your style and needs. We were rejuvenated by this land and hope to visit River Hills Above the Allegheny again!

    This was my first time using Hipcamp and Chris was quick to answer my booking question I had and to tell us about what there is to do around the area. The camping spot was easy enough to find, absolutely beautiful, and well kept. Exploring around the area was really fun, definitely check out the waterfall and cave! We will definitely be back.

    Had a wonderful time camping at Chris’ land. The stargazing is no joke! Once it gets dark the field is full of so many constellations. Comfortable set up. Best compost toilet Iv’e ever used. Chris was very nice.

    We love camping here! It's our second year and we will be back. My kids had so much fun and we enjoyed taking walks around the absolutely beautiful land. The host is so friendly and inviting. The pines canopy was so beautiful with all the pine trees and it was a very private spot.

    This site was such a beautiful place to camp at. It was very clean upon arrival and the canopy of trees was gorgeous. I also appreciated the spacious wooden platform for our tent. Ill definitely be back and will hopefully be able to stay a bit longer next time.

    Was a perfect weekend getaway! Our top of the jeep tent worked perfect. Campsite was clean, beautiful setting, level enough and well maintained. Was wonderful to meet Chris and his family - most gracious hosts. Enjoyed just relaxing and meandering through the woods and meadow on easy to follow trails. Loved finding the falls and appreciated the little bridge and steps down. Only con was little bit noisy and that was maybe due to holiday weekend. Lot of ATV or maybe dirt bike noise carried up through the canyon and Sunday shooting at the firing range. None of that under Chris’s control and wasn’t unbearable but it was unexpected. Saw deer and awoke to birds singing. Even heard an owl Saturday night which was super cool. Campsites are spaced to where you don’t hear one another with plenty of elbow room. Wish could have seen more of the river from the site but can’t complain about the lush foliage can we?? Overall loved it and shout out to Chris and his family for their hospitality and for all the work they have put in. Great people! Of note, there is a porta potty kinda centrally located for all the sites to access BUT just easier to find a secluded spot on your own without making that walk.

    this was one of our favorite campsites we’ve seen! the space was so secluded & peaceful, it was everything we could’ve ever imagined. the host was so responsive, made sure we were in good hands, and was so accommodating for our spontaneous last minute trip!! (: we will 1000% be staying here again in the near future, and will be recommending it to anyone and everyone. we also stopped at the crows cupboard in the afternoon for coffee and pastries, and had the most lovely time there. the owner was so kind, genuine, and ensured we had everything we needed and more. thank you chris for a lovely time on your campsite! (: we look forward to visiting again soon!

    Ok, here's the deal: if you are looking for a place to just be in nature, get away from the noise, and have privacy - you need to book this spot immediately. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris & chatting with him a bit about his property. He's a lovely host, and very accommodating. The waterfall area alone is reason to book this site. No crowds. Just you (and your crew, if you prefer). I seriously felt like I was in a LOTR movie, frolicking around barefoot on the rocks. The land is gorgeous. The waterfall and stream are so relaxing. If you're seeking a private, secluded feeling - Pine Canopy is for you! Plenty of trees to hang hammocks on and you felt cozy in your own little corner of the woods. Plus, the compost toilet is super close (if that's a concern for you). The toilets were clean, which was cool. If you're wanting a more expansive view - then you've got to book the River Ridge site. FWIW, I have a Rav4 Hybrid that was fine going up the trail. I just made sure the conditions were ok, and Chris had done a great job of putting rocks down. It actually rained overnight so the trail was muddy and I made it down the path with no issue. Honestly the best part for me? My dog was able to roam free! She was so happy running around the property, free as could be, just like her wild self. It was awesome. 100 out of 10 // will absolutely book again // and tell all of my friends

    Beautiful land, woods, view, water fall/swimming hole (it’s a bit cold on May, but you get used to it, bring your water shoes to hike the creek!) Compost toilets were nice and clean. Plenty of wood to scavenge if you forget to bring, or Venmo at their wood stack for a bundle. Pine Canopy is very private. As well as the overlook one.

    We had a great trip at this Hipcamp! Chris was very hospitable and we were pleasantly surprised for him to offer us a golf cart to explore the property. We enjoyed the view from our site. We also enjoyed exploring the old farm house on the property and fishing in the pond! We plan a visit back and will be checking out the other site on the property as well! P.S.     I can’t say enough about this beautiful location. The site is situated right over the river valley and the views don’t disappoint. There are tons of trails to explore and the nearby river has a great access points. Chris was quick to reply and extremely helpful. I’m already looking forward to the next time I can make it back.

    It was great to car camp out of a Tesla here! It's a 50 Amp charger so you'll easily charge up to 100% in the morning and still maintain Camp Mode all night. The charging plug is a J1772 so if you have a Tesla, don't forget to bring an adapter. The firewood for sale was plenty for the price. The stars are great in this area and we even saw a shooting star that spanned the entire sky! The host was very responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

    Beautiful campground , gorgeous waterfalls / river lot of trail to walk around . The host was very quick to reply and helpful . However This site was close to the street and not a lot of shade but was still a beautiful campground ! The sites by the river and by the pine looked beautiful !!!

    Pine Canopy is a nice secluded site, very peaceful. The campsites are spread out enough through out the whole property to allow for comfortable privacy. The property is beautiful. Good dry firewood was available to purchase during my stay. Great communication from the host. I look forward to visiting this site again in the future.

    We absolutely loved this place! It’s probably going to be our easy weekend go-to spot. Everything was as described, no surprises. The sites are spread far apart that you feel nice and alone. Lots of hiking in the area!

    What a great time! We enjoyed journeying to Chris's property almost as much as we did camping for the evening on it. His detailed instructions brought us through rolling hills and a winding gravel road, with expansive views over distant ridges and valleys. The campsite itself is secluded on the property, and we wish we had more time to explore the trail system and waterfalls. Chris was attentive via messenger, and gave great tips on how we might enjoy his property and the surrounding area. Firewood was conveniently located near our specific site. We fell asleep to peaceful sounds of crickets under dark skies, and woke to a few passing deer. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

    This was was just simply awesome. The site itself was very clean, level and shaded. Plenty of space for tents and plenty of trees for hammock tents. It is a quite site and plenty of distance from the other site that The composting toilet was for sure rustice but well maintained and clean. I have been camping for most of my life and this was definitely one of the best around the tri-state area. I highly recommend heading up to Emlenton to hit the bike trail and then stop for a bite to eat and a beer at the brewery. Overall a great experience and looking forward to coming back again

    Stayed here with my partners and my mom and it was great! The swimming hole was super close to this site and easily accessible. The cold water felt amazing! Site was big and open. Would definitely camp there again!

    This was a last minute trip for us, but from the second I sent a request to book it was nothing but great! Chris provided great communication, directions, etc. the campsite itself was beautiful, clean and had everything we were looking for. The view in the morning was the best!

    On our first night out we had a major tent malfunction due to heavy rains and had to sleep in the car. We do not fault Chris for this of course but the next day he met us and offered to upgrade our site for free! My friends and I enjoyed this site thoroughly. I’ve tent camped at several hipcamp sites across the states and this was the most beautiful land I’ve visited thus far. Campers should take the opportunity to explore the grounds and take in some stunning views of the rolling hills and valleys surrounding the area. We didn’t visit the waterfall but we heard good things about it as well and it seems to be pretty easily accessible. Beyond that, Chris was an excellent host. He went truly above and beyond our expectations with his thoughtful and hospitable attitude. He helped us feel safe and confident as young female travelers outside of our home state. He takes good care of the grounds and is knowledgeable about his passion project. For excellent service and a gorgeous site, this is the place! Highly recommend :)
