Pitch a tent on a quiet site and drop a line into one of our two trout streams crossing the campground. Hang a hammock between two towering poplar trees surrounded by flowering rhododendron. Or pull up in your camper and relax before and after a Penn State Football game under the blue and white sky. We have small, secluded sites to get away from it all, as well as conjoined sites to accommodate larger groups.
On site we have bathrooms, hot showers, and a recreation hall with free ping pong, board games, and billiards.
For a fee, we also have firewood, electricity, a dump station, a couple tents for sleeping, and a large event tent for rent.
There are no water hookups, but you can fill water tanks.
Vehicle noise is audible from route 350, especially on Friday afternoons. Noise is diminished at sites further back from route 350.
Our sites are wheelchair accessible, but the bathrooms and showers do have one step up into them.
Walk to Snappy's 24-hour convenience store to use their free Wi-Fi, buy bags of ice, or to pickup snacks and a sub in the attached Subway restaurant. A farmers market as well as ice cream stand and restaurant are within walking distance.

I honestly can’t say enough positive things about my time at Bald Eagle. From the moment Linda greeted me at the entrance and gave me a tour of the campground I felt right at home. Linda exudes warmth, kindness and hospitality and I loved chatting with her and learning about the history of the campground.
My site was in a beautiful grove of rhododendrons next to a sweet little brook, and Linda left me with plenty of firewood so I could enjoy a gorgeous fire well into the night. I slept so well!
The amenities at Bald Eagle are more than I could have asked for while camping. I enjoyed a wonderful hot shower, kept my food in the fridge in the recreation building (which houses games and a pool table!) and filled my water bottle from a tap attached to the main building.
The wildlife was so enjoyable. I saw birds of all different kinds, heard the bullfrog in the creek at night, spotted darting brook trout, and even caught sight of what I think was a muskrat scampering along the banks of the creek morning that I left.
I was also lucky enough to meet one of Linda’s daughters, Emily, and her husband David. They were so much fun, so hospitable and just really good people.
Communication was a breeze throughout the booking process.
My only regret is that I couldn’t stay longer but I’m already looking ahead to weekends I can escape to Bald Eagle again! I’m so happy I found this sweet campsite, and grateful that it was my first booking with Hipcamp because the experience was just so enjoyable. I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a pleasant stay in the Pennsylvania woods with the opportunity to meet wonderful people and explore central PA!
Nice campground snuggled just far enough from the highway. Quick walk to little store right down the road was great. Linda and Janet were super helpful getting checked in. The sites and rec building were even accessible for our sons power chair. We will definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Bald Eagle Campsite. Our site was very private and we so enjoyed being surrounded by mature trees and the babbling creek. The fire ring and picnic table were nice additions and we enjoyed our campfire and s’mores well into the night! Will definitely be back again!

We are so glad you had a great stay with us. We'd be very glad to have you back as often as you would like.
There are outlets by certain sites. My husband has a CPAP so we needed an outlet. Unfortunately, he forgot the cord; but it could have been a really nice addition to camping :)

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to leave a review. Sorry your husband forgot his cord but glad you all had a great time anyway. See you all again soon.
We absolutely loved camping here. This place was easy to find. It was definitely an ideal camp ground if you are traveling with children. Very clean facilities as well. Highly recommended to anyone looking to get away and spend some time in the great outdoors.
My family loved staying at Bald Eagle Campsite so much. We visit Penn State every year but didn't want to stay in a hotel this year.
We liked how this campground was centrally located for us to use it as a home base for the outdoor activities we drove to do around the area.
We kayaked around Lake Raystown, climbed both Mt. Nittany and 1000 Steps, rode the nearby Rails to Trails on our bikes, and played on the beach at Canoe Creek State Park.
The owners even pointed us to Bilger's Rocks which we had never heard of but was SO COOL (go check it out)!
When we weren't out and about, our girls loved riding bikes around the campground's maze of trails and playing games in the building.
We are intending to skip the hotel next year and come back. Thank you so much to the owners for being so helpful with communication and making our stay great.
I tent camped with my family at Bald Eagle Campsite and we had a fantastic time! The owners are relatives of mine, and it was so wonderful to have the campground open again as a Hipcamp after so many years of it being closed. I hold awesome memories of playing in the creek and riding my bike there as a child and it was so special to be able to share those moments with my own children. Many improvements have been made in the past year, such as newly upgraded electrical hookups, new bridges, and a rec room with free pool, ping pong and other games for when the weather doesn't cooperate! Most of all, I just enjoyed relaxing in our hammock and looking up at the trees. We will most certainly be back to camp at Bald Eagle Campsite and are so happy to now be Hipcampers!
After an 8 hour drive from Indiana my brain was reduced to a fine mush. Our hosts were warm and understanding of my ailment, and directed us to our quaint and remarkably tidy campsite. My fiancé and I settled in, enjoying a quiet dinner next to a roaring campfire. I awoke feeling refreshed in the morning, ready to drag myself across another set of state lines.

Ashley, thanks so much for staying at our family campground and posting a review of your experience. We loved meeting you and your lovely family. Nate's smile when we took him out of his power chair and into the hammock still warms our hearts. Thank you for posting that picture. We can't wait for you and the boys to come back.
